Songwriting Competition...
So I played the finals of the songwriters competition tonight. It started off as a 10 week contest with 4 artists each week. So, I wound up finding out about it the week before it ended, and was able to play the last week of it. Got the call that I made the semifinals after the initial show, played the semifinals, then got another call saying that I made the final four. So I played that tonight. It was really exciting, and everyone else was really good. The winner will be anounced December 1st.
The winner gets studio time with a man named Johnny Sandlin. It's a huge prize really, he was originally the drummer for the Allman brothers before they were the Allman brothers. Then went on to produce several of their albums. He's been professionally producing albums since 1969 and has 3 platinum and 7 gold records to his credit. So I am very pumped about the possibility of being able to record with him. Shew, so anyway, pretty exciting stuff. That's all for now!
