Wellington
HEAVY SNOW WARNING
THE HILLS OF WAIRARAPA AND EASTERN HILLS OF WELLINGTON: Snow is expected down to 400 metres overnight. From 8pm Saturday to 8am Sunday, 10 to 15cm is likely above 500m and lesser amounts to 400 metres.
STRONG WIND WARNING WELLINGTON AND COASTAL PARTS OF WAIRARAPA Between 9pm Saturday and 8am Sunday, south to southwest winds are likely to reach severe gale in exposed places gusting 130 km/h at times. Winds easing slowly after dawn.
We are on a hilltop with a great view of the harbour mouth- one of those "exposed places" mentioned. Let me note- for the record- that sleet traveling at 130kph (80mph) makes a noise that concerns me about the durability of our windows.
Please also note that 10-15cm (4-6 inches) is considered "heavy snow".
I kinda wish we had a tv- just so we could watch the rugby game taking place in town right now.
Seriously- I am loving it here!
