We know that many of you have been praying for Megan Boever my cousins wife
since she was diagnosed with cancer 2.5 years ago. Would you kindly say
a few special prayers for Matt and Megan and their family during these
last days of Lent? Matt and Megan seem to be at remarkable peace in spite of
the significant downward turn in Megan's health in recent days. Here's a
brief update on Megan's health:
Megan finished all treatments one week ago and is at their
home in Omaha;her pain is under control with medication. Hospice care
was initiated last week. Megan uses oxygen to aid breathing (the tumors in
her lungs, liverand brain are growing larger and in number). Megan is down
to 80 somepounds and drinks small sips of water; she has been eating
very little the last few weeks. She sleeps most of the day and is less and
less aware of day-to-day events. Megan's mother, Mary, is by her side
during the day and Matt during some days and all the evenings and nights.
Megan still receives Holy Communion every day at home from
her parishpriest at St. Robert's and she is prepared to meet the Lord soon.
Father Nemec, our Pastor in Lincoln, has met with Matt and Megan during
hese last months to assist them with all things spiritual. Margaret Mary took the
semester off of college and is living with them to care for the
little ones. Catherine will be living with them this summer and Anne
will be living with them this fall. Megan and Matt talked with Lucy (7) and
Emma (5) a few weeks ago about what was happening. Joseph (4) and Paul
(2) seem to be doing well. We trust that our mother Mary will watch over
them as she cared for her Son.
Matt and Megan asked that we update the individuals and
families who have been praying for her and to ask for prayers for a happy
death. We are the Chaplet of Divine Mercy in particular. We are
grateful to God for the many graces He has showered on Matt, Megan and
family during their eight and one half years of marriage. With love, Katy
and Wally
