Expedition to Castle Ravenloft--the failed update
I checked out Expedition to Castle Ravenloft at Borders last week, and I have to say that I was intensely disapointed. I can't go into great detail here because some of my players read these posts, but just a few highlights:
These people did NOT do their research. So many things were just wildly inaccurate.
First of all, there are no Vistani halflings. All Vistani are human.
Second of all, Madame Eva is NOT a hag. See above about Vistani.
Third of all, if you get killed before you walk down the aisle on your wedding day, [she] cannot truly be called your wife.
Forthly, vampires do not look like liches.
Fifth, there was little keeping with the flavor of the Ravenloft setting. Granted, this was designed to be a drop-anywhere campaign, but flavor is the most important thing about Ravenloft.

And thats just from the 5 minute flip-through I gave it. I'm sure it would have been even worse if i'd read it cover to cover.
For someone who knows nothing about the Ravenloft setting, I'm sure it would have been great and worked nicely. But you have to then ask, who are the people who would have been looking forward to this the most??
