After many hours of online videos, studying HS math, talking to my mirror like I was talking to about 15 teenagers, and generally freaking out, I am pleased to report that training tonight went SPECTACULARLY WELL. I was defnitely one of the most confident people in the group, and when I asked the Training Manager, Alex, if there was anything she noticed in me that I needed to work on between now and Wednesday night, she said, "You keep doing what you're doing. You did great tonight." YES! Which hopefully means that I will also be invited to the marketing event training on Friday, which would allow me to do presentations and demonstrations at potential host schools (also for $25/hr!). So I'm thrilled with the whole evening, which is a relief because I was so worked up about it all day. I was terrified that I was going to have retained nothing and come off as an unprepared slacker and get kicked out of the training program. I'm so glad it was just the opposite!
I also got JDart's rec letter today and sent off my big Point Foundation envelope of scholarship materials! It should be in Los Angeles by noon tomorrow. I spent the whole morning running up to our kitchen window to see if the little flag on our mailbox had been flipped. I'm very relieved that all that is taken care of until the phone interview in two weeks, and I'm also amazed at the ability that we have to overnight things across the country. It seems just a little magical to me.
Tomorrow and Thursday are the Red Shoes daytime double-headers, which might be a bit exhausting, but luckily I therapy immediately afterwards, followed by a free night!!! I can't wait to chill out, maybe hit the gym (it's been three freaking days since I last worked out and I'm going a little crazy), but generally rest my brain for a little while. I have more training Wednesday night, at which point I need to hustle my bootie downtown to meet with the Marriage Equality 7 before our court date next Monday. Then I have a day-job interview I need to shuffle around on Thursday (right now it's during our 9 AM show and I need to see if I can move it to the two hours between calls), and then more potential training on Friday followed by four more shows over the weekend. Yeesh! I haven't had a week this busy since I've been home!
I may also be having dinner with another old HS friend Sunday evening, and then Monday is full of TONS of excitement. Breakfast with the ME7 followed by our appearance in court. Then that evening, I get to go see all the Iowa grad actors at their Chicago Showcase!!! And John Cameron!!! And a whole bunch of Iowa people who have moved to Chicago but that I haven't seen yet!!! Yes!!! I cannot, cannot, cannot wait to see Cynthia, above all else. I completely forgot that their showcase was going to be coming up so quickly, and now it's here! It's good that I have this busy March ahead of me, because I know that every time the mail comes I'm going to have a mild freakout about DePaul. Distractions are good for my sanity, and they will make me much more able to handle whatever comes my way.
And I just got off the phone with one Casey Fuckin' Boland! A good chat to end a good day. A very good day, indeed.
