So I realize this might be a bit of a late announcement but I wasn't really sure how to announce to the internet and so... I put it off

I read this really cool study (which I can't find now! curses!) that found that kids see gender as something completely fluid. Which is why they will so rigidly reinforce standardized gender roles on their own. The little girl INSISTS on the pink cup because if she drinks from the blue one, she risks becoming a boy. When we adults create this boy vs girl universe for them, they try very very hard to make sure they properly fit inside it.

it is kind of interesting how our brains and concept of the world develop

I guess my goal is to try and keep the universe as open as possible.

Overall lesson: Keep your kid's options open to be whoever they want to be!
