1. What is your favorite spice or spice blend?
Cumin. Cumin makes everything taste like warmth!

2. What do you cook for yourself when you are sad?
I don't like to eat when I'm sad.

3. What do you cook for yourself when you are sick? Do you have a "cure-all"?
Matzo ball soup! Best food for anything!

4. Describe your most memorable taste adventure - good or bad.
Trying sushi for the first and only time. No thank you.

5. What comes to mind when you think the word "garlic"?
Yummy! We never have trouble with vampires in my home!

6. Who taught you how to cook?
Alton Brown. He is my culinary hero.

7. Are you a "pretty" cook?
Not the prettiest, but I try to make food look appetizing. One of your firsts tastes is with your eyes.

8. What do you most like to make when you are entertaining guests? Do you have any "designed-to-impress" recipes?
Ice cream! Homemade ice cream impresses everyone.

9. What was the last thing you ate? More importantly, why did you eat it?
Chocolate cheerios. Because I was out of strawberry frosted mini wheats.

10. Do you have a favorite herb or herb blend?
Never underestimate the power of parsley. Though herbs de provence is really nice to cook with.

11. What is your favorite food that you haven't made/eaten in a long while?
If it was my favorite, why wouldn't I eat it often? But something I enjoy that I rarely eat is sloppy joes. I try not to eat meat more than 1-2 times a week at most, so it rarely fits in.

12. What is your "fall back" meal? Something you can make anytime and it's always a hit?
Chili. I can throw whatever I have around the house into a pot and have it come out tasty. It's all in the spices.

13. What was the first real recipe you learned to make?
Sugar cookies. From a colonial america cookbook. What was I thinking?

14. What is the most difficult dish you've ever tried to make? (whether you succeeded or not)
Stuffed turkey breasts.

15. What is the most often used ingredient in your kitchen?
Kosher salt.

16. What is the most often used kitchen gadget in your arsenal?
Big wooden spoon.

17. If you could only keep/have 1 pot or pan, which one would you choose and why?
Our large induction compatible stock pot. Easier to cook small amounts in a big pot than large amounts in a small pot.

18. Do you have a favorite fruit or veggie to experiment with? Why?
Zucchini. It's so plentiful, but so hard to cook with...

19. Name 12 ingredients that you ALWAYS like to have on hand (besides butter, sugar, salt, and pepper….)
Canned beans, diced tomatoes, pasta, rice, baby carrots, frozen peas, garlic, onions, cream of mushroom soup, cumin, parmesan cheese, milk

20. What’s you’re favorite food to cook - not only for the taste and nutrition, but also just for the SMELL that permeates everything around?
Smores cookies. Ok, not the most nutritious, but tastes great and makes the whole house smell delicious.

21. What’s the last recipe you cooked for people other than yourself?
I made artichoke and sun dried tomato pasta last night for ben.

22. What’s your favorite cookbook and why?
The internet. I can pop in any ingredient and get tons of recipes that include it.

23. When you’re looking/searching for a fresh idea - something new to try - where do you go first? A cookbook? A person? One of the food channels on TV? A magazine? The back of a specific product’s packaging? The internet? Someplace else entirely?
The internet. It is the keeper of all knowledge! I read a couple blogs that keep me informed of all sorts of new things to try.

24. What was the first recipe you “invented” yourself?
Chili, I guess? That's the sort of dish you make up as you go along.
