'Tis play season again. (For the record, "play season" happens something like 5-10 times a year.) So, I'll probably be performing some sort of Great Disappearing Act for the next week.

But before I go away, I happily get to report that A Time to Trust has been updated to chapter sixteen! The chapter contains an ANGST ALERT, and the only summary I'm giving is: "Severus, please."

And just for fun, I thought I would post here a play that will be in Drawn & Quartered IV. D&Q is a recurring play series done by the Immediacy Theatre Project wherein six ensemble members write, direct, and act 35 two-minute plays performed in an order chosen by the audience. There are no characters, no budgets, and no rules.

Behind the cut is a play I wrote for it, called "Here, Jo, for You," which is a little bit about my frustrations with JK Rowling and a lot more about the way I feel about the Harry Potter universe.

Thanks!

DANI stands DC with a bunch of golden rings in her hands.

DANI. This (holds up a ring) is for Hermione Granger (puts ring on her finger), a bushy-haired know-it-all, who bites her lip when she’s nervous.

Please hold out your hand if you love the Harry Potter series.

This for Potions (gives a ring to an audience member), which actually makes chemistry seem cool.

This is for Polyjuice (gives a ring to an audience member), the ultimate transformer, and the Golden Snitch (gives a ring to an audience member) that we each must Seek.

This is for Extendable Ears (gives a ring to an audience member) and magic mirrors (gives a ring to an audience member).

This is for Norbert (gives a ring to an audience member), because everyone wants a pet dragon, and the Thestrals (gives a ring to an audience member), whom we hope never to see.

This is for Ginny’s infamous Bat-Bogey Hex (gives a ring to an audience member) and Harry’s trademark Patronus (gives a ring to an audience member), which keep our enemies at bay.

This is for each book we bought (gives a ring to an audience member) and each time we cried (gives a ring to an audience member).

This is for the fans (gives a ring to an audience member), who love your characters and your world and live and breathe and read and write Harry Potter.

This (holds up a ring, gives it to an audience member) is for the fantasy.

Here, Jo, you can have the fame, the money, the legal battles over copyright infringement, and all seven copies of The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

(Holds up finger with ring on it) We’ll take the fantasy.

Curtain.
