junsu/liyin, ng/liyin

he called her on the day she, in the beginning considered significant, but as years pass had forgotten, and asked to meet at a place where he first took her to dinner some years ago. she was sure she had deleted his number the day she decided to forget, nevertheless his name appeared onto the screen of her phone, and she faintly remembers that she had replaced his real name to xiah, placing him in the last of her contacts list. she never looked up a name pass the s, and soon had forgotten all about it.

"you're going?"

liyin breaks from her thoughts and glances at the man seated before her. her hand curls tightly around her phone and smiles when he tilts his head, curious for an answer. like junsu, right? her conscious asks, and she shifts her gaze to one of the opened sugar packs consumed for their coffee.

"should i?"

she watches him pout before placing his chin on top of his hands that laid against the table, gazing at her like a curious child.

"you should."

"why?"

"why not?"

liyin squints and mimics his posture, and they play a game of who can stare each other down the longest. he gives up halfway and she frowns, unknown to her that he never can stand looking at those chocolate orbs for long, else he'd kiss her.

"go see him." he mumbles behind his hand in an attempt at covering the blush that radiated his cheeks.

"but oppa -"

"go," he urges, followed by a comforting smile and reaches for her hand. "i'll be right here."

junsu releases a heavy sigh and buries his face into his muffler, because even the smallest and most isolated corner of this small restaurant, he couldn't help but feel just a bit paranoid. last thing he needed was an interruption that would ultimately destroy his last chance.

he hears the bell ring at a new customer, and holds his breath while he searches for a familiar form emerge from the entrance. liyin glances around for a man who would appear out of the ordinary before being interrupted by a waitress who motions her to follow. she brings her to a secluded area and not more than a few feet away liyin spots him staring from his table.

"junsu." she greets, voice all but comfortable.

"riin."

"you wanted to see me."

she doesn't hesitate, he smiles because he thinks she hasn't changed at all, but he hadn't expect her to be so direct to give off the feeling that she didn't want to be here, that she didn't want to see him.

"no disguise?"

"i don't need one."

she's not famous like you, his conscious reminds him and junsu bites his tongue back from asking anymore stupid questions.

"how are you?" she asks. she tries to be cooperative, nice, that's what former lovers do, right?

"good. i'm good," he trails. "thank you for coming."

"i wasn't supposed to," liyin confesses, eyes anywhere but his. "but how can i turn down a request from the kim junsu himself?"

junsu smiles bitterly when she places an emphasis on his fame, reminding the both of them the beginning of a love that had blossomed so beautifully but had become the reason why they had fallen apart.

"how have you been, riin?"

fine without you, she wanted to say, i've become more independent. i've learned how to stand on my own, shield and guard my heart, become aware, all the things that i wanted to be while i was with you, all the things that i couldn't be while i was with you. i've grown up, junsu. can't you see?

"content," her voice comes out dry.

"...that's great to hear," he swallows in an attempt to loosen the tight feeling in his chest. junsu notices her glancing at the clock and a few habits he'd seen that he knew very well the meaning to. an appointment to attend to? was she cooking before she came? was someone else waiting? junsu's insides twist and he hoped there wasn't another.

the second her phone rings she wastes no time to answer, obvious to junsu of her need of rescue, most likely from him.

"hey," she sighs in relief, temporary forgetting his presence. "what?"

all the while junsu watches her, he doesn't see the guest who made his way towards their table. only when she turns to confirm his claim that he was at the restaurant did junsu realize there was another man.

"you're here."

"i said i'll be right here, right?" he pats her head adoringly. he notices junsu and extends a hand. "hi, nice to meet you."

junsu nods and hesitantly reaches to shake the stranger's hand, glancing at liyin who had avoided further eye contact.

"you must be junsu," he stares at the star in amazement. "i'm sorry that i came without notice, her manager said it was urgent."

junsu manages to smile without faltering, still trying to figure who and what role did this stranger play in liyin's life. could it be...?

"you don't mind, do you? manager hyung can be -"

"- strict about time, i know," junsu interrupts. "i see he hasn't changed at all, riin?"

"never will," she agrees and tries to ignore his bitter tone. her lover might've not noticed, but it was all too familiar to liyin. "i'm sorry, i have to go. if you want to talk another time -"

"no, it's fine," junsu's gaze lands on the hand that laced its fingers into hers. "i apologize for making you come."

liyin notes his sudden change of emotion, guilt pangs her heart. she hadn't mean for junsu to see him, in the first place she wasn't on planning on telling him about her current status, or seeing for that matter.

"junsu," she calls gently, more sincere than the first time, and his heart mends then breaks altogether. "it was nice seeing you again."

"yeah," he whispers, almost inaudibly. "me too. it was nice seeing you, riin, really."

her lover announces their departure and says one last goodbye to the man who calls himself junsu before she is pulled away. she might have looked back, might have wanted to say something else, but junsu convinces himself it was the tears that were playing tricks on him again.

author's note: long story short, i started out well and lost it at the end. just something short and bittersweet because i have too many happy endings haha. and i am proud of this one because omg i made junsu sink in a hole aka not get what he wants and i am really, really, satisfied. anonymous bf is the bomb and my favorite here ha. so much easier to write than junsu.
