sightseeing in asakusa - weekend with my family

this weekend gone was awesome. on saturday, i went with mama, papa and manaka (saki is studying alot) to asakusa, a major tourist attraction these days. its home to like an ancient civilisation with temples there over 1400 years old. they look brand new of course. and some were destroyed in the war and rebuilt like 50 years ago. but they are beautiful.

here i tried takayaki - octopus. it was okay, just like calamari really! speaking of sea food, there were these beautiful fish there too, coy they are called but not sure how to spell it. there was a gold one there which was so amazing to see!

the highlight of the day would have to be the jinrickshyoo - its means man powered car, and thats pretty much it. this guy carted manaka (how cute is she!) and i around on foot, doing a historic sort of tour as he went. great fun. the last picture isnt of us but it shows you how its done. talk about slave labour!

that afternoon we also went for a scenic walk around the area, it was nice and cool.

on sunday we went shopping in saitama - i bought a minituare set of speakers that you plug into your ipod headset. manaka has a set and the quality is really loud and good, at least to the untrained ear. it only cost - guess... $4! i was like wow thanks for the land of progressive technology, its probably considered neanderthal to them now, but im impressed. also mama kindly bought me a study book that helps you prepare for the japanese profficiency test that i will have to do later this year. its a really useful book and ive been learning heaps from it already. thankyou mama :) i have such a cool host family! dont worry blood relatives, your still number one - im just stoked i am living with such kind people :D
to finish the entry, heres a quote super kawaii unquote picture of saki in a kimono she made herself.
