As I sit up till 1:30 on a Thursday night, I have this question to ask:
When did you stop making movies that, regardless of anything else, just make you cheer?
Because I'm staying up way too late on a day when I have no threads open to watch, of all things, Independence Day and no matter what anyone ever says about that movie, anything about it, it just has moments that are so damn perfect for what they are.
Yes, I do glee silently as I watch the morse code travel around the world.
Yes, I do shiver just a little as Bill Pullman gives The Speech.
Yes, I do giggle at the 'oops'.
Yes, I do get choked up and cheer out loud when Russel takes out the ship.
And yes, I can accept the many goofy flaws that this movie has, but they don't take away from the enjoyment of it. It's not the best film-making in the world; I don't particularly care. The ending with the two guys being alive is utterly ridiculous; still with the not caring.
And I honestly can't say I've seen a movie like that in so very long.
I have hopes with the new Indiana Jones movie. Please please don't disappoint me.
Love, Danii
