My theory on why Dumbledore died
The new actor for Dumbledore after Richard Harris died sucked, so J.K. Rowling didn't want the new one to act in the movies anymore.
Old Dumbledore died after Chamber of Secrets, which came out in 2002, so the new Dumbledore was in his first movie when Prisoner of Azkaban came out in 2004. My theory is that JKR didn't like his acting, so she just decided to get rid of him in the next book she wrote.
Since Order of the Phoenix already came out in 2003, a year before PoA came out as a movie, she couldn't kill him in 5, so in Half-Blood Prince, which came out in 2005, he dies.
