Writer's Block: Adult Onset

I think that 18 or 19 should be the age at which someone is considered an adult, and this means that they have ALL the rights which adults have. I really dislike how in the US right now you are an 'adult' at 18 but you still cannot drink. That to me is very odd. Why are you old enough and mature enough to vote and join the military but not old/mature enough to drink?
