long shower, light bath.

the city seems to be settling into me. like soup. just like soup...somehow.

i woke up in the morning and took a long shower. i think the shower was long because i knew once i was done with it the day would have to start, and that once it got going there'd be no stopping it until it was all done. taking a shower is not like getting up. it's like putting the brakes on getting up. i'm lying there in bed, thinkin there's no way i'm gonna get up right now, but, m'eh, sure, i could take a shower. to heck with all my jitters! - i got that job! bike joint. walk there. daytime. discount. not night. h'aalright. kayaks in three months. big ups to kate for quitting and telling my cuz who told me. man...KAYAKS! ☺ . i've done night shifts before, but i started this one and i haven't really been able to meet or hang out with anyone. so now i can be like, pimpin that shit out. i had some very real moments on the walk back to the expired parking meter someone put next to my car. moments like, oh my god, i'm actually about to start dancing frantically to invisible music in the street! wait. no i'm not, okay.

i went home, rolled a joint, hung out, took a nap, and woke up around dinner time. right as my cousin's bf got home. we are hungry. we pick up emma from work. then were gonna go to taco bell, but there's construction stuff, so we drove to the one downtown, where the parking is done in a paralell manner, and sometimes nowhere near where you're going. we walked down alvarado street just after dusk, when all the shops were turning on their lights. we were practically bathed in the dual coolness of shoplights and afterglow. there's this theatre along the way. if it wore pants they'd be fancy. it was not wearing pants. it was, in fact, being stood-in-front-of by my cousins' boyfriends' brothers' wifes' sister! what are the odds? she was there working with the democratic party, who were all set up in the lobby, and she hurried us in right as obama was starting to deliver his speech live via...live equipment. so great timing. i sat behind an old couple, and next to a republican. he maybe coulda slowed things down a bit, but then, those prompters coulda came With it.

we walked for the border. ate, walked back to the car, came home. then i took my cousin and her nine dollars to longs for a box with 12 beers inside. we stayed up drinking the beers, and smoking from an assorted (but not equally) array of pipes, joints, bongs n' blunts.

the day, the good news, the walking and making of great and wonderful merriment. all combined at last to find me nodding off with oblivious consent, lacking the wits to argue with the night and it's sleep.

man, and that was just yesterday. today was all about tarpy's, grandaddy's jewelry heist at the corner store, and an epic walk/trolley ride throughout and around downtown monterey. i won't say any more on that for now though. i'm too busy not going to a going away party for one of my cousins' friends. because there is no way i'm gonna manage to act cool in front of teenagers. we watched way different things in first grade. maybe i'll walk to the corner for some sabritones and donuts. too.
