Getting teenagers into Manga
Next week I'm speaking to kids in grades 7-12 about manga at the public library. The idea behind my talk is to get kids exposed to manga 101 (Bleach, Death Note, Fruits Basket) and also try to sneak in a few surprises for those that might be more familiar with the medium.
So far I'm thinking of presenting things the following way....
If you like superheroes you might like Bleach!
If you like Twilight you might like Vampire Knight!
If you like tennis you might like Prince of Tennis!
and so on....but I was wondering if you guys had any other suggestions or if I was missing anything really obvious. I'm only going to talk about books available at the library but this library is really well-stocked with manga (over 200 different titles) so chances are the library at least has something to represent every genre a teenager might find interesting.
So, any thoughts?
