Meet my Flux Twinsie, Author, Karen Kincy!
On the eve of our collective release day, I'd like to introduce you to the author, Karen Kincy! Indigo Blues and Other share the same birthday, July 1, 2010!
So here's what Karen and I had to say about a few of our favorite, or not so favorite things!
We both love brussels sprouts!
Fruit in chocolate is a yes for Karen, it's a meh for me, rather have it with nuts!
The Smiths are one of my all time favorite bands when I asked Karen about them she said, "Huh?" Ok, so I might be aging myself a bit on this one!
Raspberries are a meh for Karen and a yay for me!
Bubblegum is a total no way for Karen. I like it on airplanes and if it's the kind that you can blow really big bubbles with.
And we both love to travel so let us know when you want us to come speak in your foreign land. The more exotic the better!
Stickers, Yes for both! I used to have a whole album full.
Favorite footwear? Good comfy hiking/walking shoes for Karen and flip flops for me.
Favorite color? Purple for both Karen and me, definitely twinsie power there!
Favorite movie? Currently, Avatar from Karen, a purely sci-fi geek perspective. And I haven't seen anything recently so I'll name one of my all time favorites, The Usual Suspects. Rent it now if you've never seen it!
And now for the real stuff on Other:
1. Tell us about Other.
2. How did you come up with the idea?
In a nutshell, I wanted to explore paranormal peoples that weren’t so commonplace and cliché. Also, what would happen to America if we all knew that they existed, and not everybody liked them. I love juxtaposing the magical and the mundane, like when Gwen finds tuna at the grocery store which is caught in “mermaid-safe nets,” or the fact that she has to declare she’s half-pooka when she gets her driver’s license.
3. What are you working on now?
Bloodborn, sequel to Other, now with more werewolves! Just add moonlight! Seriously, though, I think Bloodborn will satisfy those readers who read Other and want to know what life is like for outlawed Others who hide in the backwoods of America. I also have a few super secret unrelated projects in the works, but of course they are super secret.
