Hello at long last

In "A Search In Secret India," a recounting of a journey for a guru, a man called Paul Brunton, one who we'd term a "spiritual explorer," said this of those travelling to India: "The white tourist who 'does' the chief cities and historical sights and then steams away with disgust at the backward civilization of India is doubtless justified in his depreciation of it. Yet a wiser kind of tourist shall one day arise who will seek out, not the crumbling ruins of useless temples, nor the marbled palaces of dissipated kings long dead, but the living sages who can reveal a wisdom untaught by our universities" (17). Don't really consider myself so much of a tourist, and not sure I completely agree with temples being so useless, but the words ring true. (I should probably say a bit about what those words mean--the point about the temples and palaces certainly begs the question why people do venture to see structures of old, why it's important, relevant...)

Some say that India chews you up and spits you out as a punishment for being a selfish, wasteful Westerner. I'd say India has been very kind to me so far.

Have much bzzing about my brain to spew out, hopefully with some semblance of order...should probably get down to it here, as I only have one month remaining!
