St. Patrick's Day Massacre Orgy... wait, what?

So the weekend was rather enjoyable... for the most part.

Saturday morning was a wine tasting with awesometastic friends at the DiGrazia Vineyard in Brookfield, CT. It is interesting that in only the last year, I have developed a taste for wine. I have always loved mead, but wine hasn't come into play until we started doing the Litchfield Hills Winter Wine Trail. It's when I realized I don't hate wine- I hate shitty wine. I have seen the light and it is tasty yumminess.

That's happened a lot the past few years. With my change in diet came a change to my taste buds. It started with me growing a love of seafood, then exotic cheeses, different kinds of meat, wine... I hate to use the term "maturing tastes" but dammit... it's true. And woot to it.

It curbed the fact that later that day, I had to wait to attend the epic 16th annual "Come As Your Favorite Nude Leprechaun" Party (You don't actually attend as a Nude Leprechaun, but it's a fun title) to do a private show from annoyance-based-hell. It was a show for a friend of a friend so it was already for a reduced rate, and I had to start my show 45 minutes late, and the sound guy didn't have any clue what he was doing and I just wanted to knock him down and use his equipment myself (But I'm a nice guy) and everyone... all 14 guests... were eating during my show so the energy was subdued at best.

During those shows, I like to remind myself that I'm getting paid. And I did, and I quickly made the 50 minute trek to the NLP to join up with my fiance' and our friends.

And it was pretty damned cool. It usually is, but this year was a bit more playful than years past. Rachel's and my lifestyle allow for all kinds of interesting situations and this year's NLP presented more than usual with people I wouldn't normally expect it from. And note, NLP is not meant to be a kinky party so All in all, a damned good time.

The next day was the first real read-through of my Faire's script with almost all 20 of the characters. Since I wrote the script, it was great to hear it coming alive. It's the second year of a 3 year story arc, something Ren Faires don't generally do. And fans of the faire seem to be excited about it. The cast even more so.

So now it's back to the grind. I have the possibility of booking a gig in Arkansas for October and I really hope it goes through. As does my possible show in Maryland in June. I've had trouble breaking out of the Northeast Bubble and if I can just burst that, it'll open me up to the National level of performer I really want to reach. So, here's hopin'.

personal, show, business, faire, ren faire
