My friend asked me tonight what was wrong with screamer emo music.

I told her that it had too many sad feelings.

She asked me what was wrong with sad feelings.

This is my response, which I thought was clever enough to share:

"And there's nothing wrong with sad feelings. It's just that some people exceed their allotment, and then the sadness economy crashes. Then there's some starving kid in Ethiopia with flies hanging off his eye-balls who can't properly feel sorry for himself because some emo kid with a ridiculous haircut is suicidal over the fact that his 16-year-old girlfriend won't get his name tattooed to her labia. Is that fair? No, of course not. We have to start thinking sustainable sadness solutions. That's right, I'm talking moderation. Occasionally we have to stop taking ourselves so seriously and remember to laugh at ourselves and our stupid friends, lest we find ourselves in a worldwide black hole of constant whiney sucktitude. Won't someone please think of the children!?"
