Yesterday, after having studied quite a lot (and I'm not being ironic, I mean it!), I decided I could do some fresh air, so I went to Buenos Aires' very own Latin American Art Museum, the MALBA, which is one of the most popular museums among young people and tourists, and is only 15 blocks away from my Mom's^^. I saw an exposition on Argentine artists from the 90's, bumped into Kari (a friend of mine from college), and bought a catalogue at the museum gift shop. I couldn't resist, I usually go and check things out, yet don't buy anything because everything is too expensive (they may be at a reasonable price for a tourist because of the exnchange rate, but for me they are a rip off!), but the catalogues were on sale and surprise!I had enogh money to purchase one! It was a catalogue from an exposition on Frank Stella, which was put on 4 years ago and I happen to see it with two of my best friends from high school, Nacho and Esme, so it brought me back some good memories and I had no choice but to buy it xD. You may know Frank Stella, he's from Massachusetts and is still an active artist, very op/pop art/abstract expressionism(ish). If you're interested, you may check out this webpage, where you can apreciate some of his work:
www.artnet.com/Artists/ArtistHomePage.aspx In the evening, I went to the theater with my Mom and saw Marat/Sade, a play written by Peter Weiss. Plot by IMDb (yes, there's a movie based on it!): "The Marquis de Sade is locked in the Charenton mental hospital and decides to put on a play. His overseers agree as long as he follows certain conditions. He writes and directs the other mental patients in a play based on the life of Jean-Paul Marat. As the play progresses, the inmates become more and more possessed by the violence of the play and become extremely difficult to control. Finally, all chaos breaks loose." VERY interesting, with AWESOME costumes and actings. Plus, I ran into another friend (again!), Maka, from high school, whom I hadn't seen since my birthday party in...March!
And today it was all about studying. And having a coffee break with my Dad. And helping my Mom correcting her students' writings, because I was too boredxD. It was kinda fun, and I got to practise my English (my Mom's an English teaacher, remember?) while giving a hand to my Mom, who HATES correcting writings and had a lot to correct (because the swine flu interrupted classes at every college, she had to send her students LOTS of homework, which equals to losts of writings,as it's the students' weakest point.). And I felt very proud of myself 'cause my Mom checked the corrections and thoght they were very good, so yay for me playing the teacher!xD
