2013 Month of Love Challenge, Day 10

Originally I was going to ask for prompts for my contribution to the Daniel/Vala month of love, but I'm not confident I can capture the back-and-forth dialogue of these two, so I opted for something else to offer. I checked out the previous prompts of sg1_five_things to see what D/V prompts they had. The titles link back to the original posts where others have

A. ughhhhh I made the mistake of clicking on that link & reading the anti-D/V comments. It put me in a bit of a funk, even though I also ship Jack/Daniel. THANK YOU SO MUCH for providing a D/V-friendly list

Ugh, yeah, sorry 'bout the anti-D/V sentiments, I probably should have warned for that. :( I do wish there was a little more lenience for the various 'ships, rather than hating on a character or pairing that a person doesn't care fore.

Who knows, maybe I'll manage to write a proper fic out of something here. My main concern is that I'm not particularly adept at dialogue and these two going at it can be hilarious if done right. I'm just not sure I can do it right.

I love these so very much. Truly, I cannot express how I enjoyed them. I love the Space Pirates that "borrow" the George Hammond. And many, many of the five ways... excellent post! ~b

I must confess I think I read something along the lines of borrowing the George Hammond in one of the lj comms that sprung up the give SG-1 a proper send off after the series was cancelled. It was rather cute and I love the idea of them carrying on in that fashion. And Jonas must be saved! lol

I'll confess right off the bat that the coffee one cracked me right up. I cannot think of luwak coffee without thinking of Dave Barry's beyond hilarious column about. It even mentions ancient Egyptians! Some one should totally let Vala read that. :-D.

The others were great fun as well. Naming the baby Catherine was very sweet, and surprisingly hasn't been done to death. Loved some of the alternate realities. Really, just great. :)

I just love that scene in the Bucket List about it:

[Carter hands Edward an article about Kopi Luwak, Edward's favorite coffee]
Carter Chambers: Read it.
Edward Cole: [reading] Kopi Luwak is the world's most expensive coffee. Though for some, it falls under the category of "too good to be true." In the Sumatran village, where the beans are grown, lives a breed of wild tree cat. These cats eat the beans, digest them and then... defecate.
[pauses]
Edward Cole: The villagers then collect and process the stools. It is the combination of the beans and the gastric juices of the tree cat that give Kopi Luwac...
[Carter starts laughing]
Edward Cole: ...its unique flavor... and aroma. You're shitting me!
Carter Chambers: [laughing] Cats beat me to it!
[Carter and Edward both laugh hysterically]

Catherine is kind of a forgotten lady on the show. They gave her a couple episodes in the early seasons and one or two mentions, and that was it. Considering she was the catalyst of getting Daniel into the program, the lady needs some major kudos lol

Teehee... can't go wrong with space pirates. They could have so much fun and trouble with that.

These are all really great. I bet you could come up with some great fics with these. And I wouldn't worry too much about getting their unique banter right. Sometimes, you just have to dive in and give it a shot. And you have a lovely bunch of ready-made fans right here to cheer you on too. :) A fair few would even beta-read for you if you wanted. The point is to keep up the Daniel/Vala love, right? :)

Let's see, favorite ones... B1, C5 (Catherine is a really beautiful name, and I have a soft spot for the nickname Katie if they go that route), D3 sounds hilarious!, D5, all of the E ones, the first 3 F ones are good too; nevermind, I like the G ones a lot more, and H2 and H5 are my favorites from that group. :)

Hehe, feel a little bit like people are reading out bingo numbers. But I realised it makes for an easier way of keeping track of the various lists since I posted them all in one page.

I like the idea of them mostly calling her Catherine without any pet names just like Catherine Langford got the full-name treatment, but I imagine it would get shortened on occasion when people are rushed. Which, given the amount of emergency situations that pop up in and around the SGC, could be quite often.

I love how everyone loves the idea of Daniel embarrassing himself while high (particularly since we've seen he seems to have a low tolerance for alcohol), and of them all running off to be space pirates. Space pirates ftw!

ROFL! Bingo numbers, yeah! That or vitamins... no, vitamins are mostly just letters, the B's are the ones that have all the numbers after them.

Yes, Daniel and Vala would call her Catherine, and so would Teal'c, but I bet Cam, Jack, and maybe even Sam might shorten it. They seem like nickname types. :) Aw, you just gotta write this fic now. Please!!! Pretty please with sugar and a cherry on top!! ;)

Space pirates have the potential for much humor!! So do alcohol/chemical-induced marriage proposals. *giggles uncontrollably*
