I think several members of this comm participate in the Fruitcake Exchange, so yes, a December challenge would be a bit redundant. However, the February challenge is great, and we could have similarly-themed ficathons/challenges every other month or every three months. April could be "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?", June-August "Summer of Love", etc.
#2 New Layout: In the meantime, can we at least make the Subject lines readable without having to hover over them and without needing Windows Explorer? I surf with Chrome & Firefox on my iMac.
#3 How about escalating the joint effort between the dv_exchange and daniel_vala? The 2009 D/V Exchange generated 22 submissions. If we encourage cross-posting and regular promotion of D/V content, that might have an accumulative effect instead of spreading the fandom too thin.
#4 sg-fignewton hosts regular Alphabet Soup ficathons for Team & no-paring stories, so Daniel/Vala friendship fics definitely qualify! I'd like to see if we can lure Gen-ficcers to Daniel/Vala, and also get more D/V friendship stories promoted here. I'd also like to see more Vala stories at gate_women, so we could encourage this comm to represent her whenever they call for submissions

the SG-1 fandom and especially its sub-communities will continue to bleed numbers as other in-production fandoms lure them away
Harumph, all my fandoms are dead shows anyway, the only things I participate in actively are SGU and occassionally (when River Song makes an appearance) Doctor Who :O
Tell me about it. I love The X-Files, Farscape, SGA, and Firefly.
Am starting on Andromeda and Legend of the Seeker.
Sometimes I feel that the moment I start to like an active show, it'll get cancelled and I'll go through the Bitter that I endured during XF, which wasn't healthy.
Seriously, it's like a curse :( FlashForward, Knight Rider, The Dresden Files...*sigh* I call myself the kiss of death because the moment I start to love a show, it's dead *headdesk* And don't even get me started on favourite characters...if I fall for them, they're guarenteed to die :O
I just got my hands on S1 & S3 of Andromeda so that's next on my watch list too :D Pity about LotS, it had a lot of potential :( I missed out on meeting the cast by one day last year when they were at Armageddon, but we had to drive home so I didn't get to take pictures with them *pouts*
1. A month is probably good, to give everyone plenty of time to get things finished.
3. What about some kind of Advent Calender, counting down the days 'til Christmas and/or getting the presents from the D/V exchange? There could be sign-ups for each day like the Month of Love or Springtime Is for Lovers.
Other- I agree that a challenge every couple of months (not just fiction, but graphics, etc.) would be great. We could have a different theme/challenge/episode each time.

For #2, I can't speak for anyone else, but two weeks-month should be more than enough time.

Other than that, I'm strictly a Stargate fan :)
