Things have been going so quickly these last few days and I haven't even had the chance to update my journal and bring it up-to-date. Not only have I been busy with what's been going on on here in London, but also with business back in Australia with, of course, the tour.
My flight's leaving from Heathrow at 11:50am, so I have a few more hours before I have to wake Hannah up (who is peacefully curled up in the bed and hugging a pillow to her face like her life depended on it) and say my goodbyes. I've really, honestly enjoyed myself while here in Europe without the whole touring part of the process, and I just regret that I'm not going to be able to hang around while I'm here. It's back off to the rat race I go, and although I'm somewhat excited at the thought of getting back to Australia to some warmer weather, I still really don't want to be leaving Hannah.
So we went to the concerts for both HIM and Placebo respectively, and it was quite an experience. It's been a while since I've been on the other side of the fence, so to speak, and so it was that I found myself lost in the crowd with Hannah beside me, watching the performance while she positively wriggled and hollered for all her worth. That amused and endeared me. Myself, I was too enamoured with the fact that I was in the crowd, seeing it from the other perspective, and not being seen at the same time. A bit of anonymity that I enjoyed and was looking forward to even more by the time we were at the Placebo concert.
To say the least, the experience is one that I won't forget, and I wonder now if any of silverchair's audiences feel the same as I had when watching the onstage talent and charisma of the bands we went to see. I think nothing can compare to the way they both captivate and hold their fans while they perform. It was then that the realised the true meaning to the "performer/entertainer" label that I once used to think was a gross misuse of the word when in application to an artist. Now I see how true those words can be in respect to the bands of HIM and Placebo.
Speaking of bands, I've been brought up-to-date about what's going on with the 'chair these days. It's kind of amusing that Ben calls up frantically and keeps adding tour dates to the world tour, and when I hang up the phone, I realise how strange it is. Only this time a few months ago, I was certain that we were going to just tour Australia. Then the Brazil shows came, and along with them, a glimmer of hope for a world tour. Now, we have sold out shows across the globe, and more dates coming in. Canadians in particular should pay attention.

Also, some of the dates have been shifted around and changed to make room for more and more dates that are being squeezed in every now and then. Some of the Brazilian shows have changed, as well as a fourth one being added to the roster. The New York shows almost instantly sold out within a day, and fans are a bit upset about that. I remember promising that we were going to tour the US, but the signs point to NYC and Toronto as being the only places for these concerts and I'm somewhat disappointed in that. Hopefully, we can be doing more in the US and Canada than we can currently foresee.
Needless to say, things are really starting to roll and I think that once we get started in a few weeks, we're not going to stop for a few months. Now, I suppose, it's catch-up time for a year's worth of not being able to perform Diorama.
Across the Night is soon to be released as a single, and the music video has been played on the television networks. I'm curious to see how the single fares, although it seems it will bode well as Diorama has been high in the charts for months now. Here's to hoping that all turns out well.
Now I am starting to ramble, and I should pack up my suitcases and call to confirm my flights. Hannah is still out like a light, and I'm wondering if I should wake her for some breakfast or let her get her beauty rest before I wake her up anyway to go to the airport with me to say goodbye. I think I'll let her sleep, and go back to packing up my things in preparation.
I have a long flight ahead of me, and I'll be arriving in Sydney at 4pm tomorrow. I'll be picking up a rental car and driving back to Newcastle... that is, unless I have a
reason to stay.
