My daugher was born June 14, 2008 at 7:47 p.m. She was 6 lb. 12 oz. and 19 inches long.....healthy it seemed at first, and we went home two days later. But the day after we went home, we had to take her back to the ER due to a severe case of jaundice. It is normal in newborns, and sometimes breastfed newborns have higher risk, so we weren't worried. We were in the hospital from Tuesday afternoon until Friday afternoon...which wore us down a ton. Didn't sleep much at all. They let us leave Friday, but the amount of bilirubin in her blood had gone up some :( so they gave us a UV blanket to wrap her belly in and told us to feed her as much as possible between breastfeedings and to take her to the lab everyday to get a shot in her foot to test her blood levels of bilirubin. So we did....then the doctor called yesterday and said she was down to either 12.2 or 12.8 and that we could stop the treatment. He also said that it was the slowest recovery from jaundice he'd ever seen so that made me nervous, mostly because I had to have antibiotics during delivery to prevent her from getting group B strep from me...and what if it didn't work? ...then they switched her appointment to a more qualified doctor....ugh I just want her to be okay. Tomorrow at 9:15 I will have a lot of questions for these docs.....

I just want my baby to quit being yellow!!! Ugh how stressful. She acts okay usually, but then gets more sleepy than normal sometimes and doesn't eat as well, which makes me paranoid. jeez.

Yesh Heatherr, so baby is here! And a lil sick :( But she will be gettin out to see people more once she is all better!
