What is in a name?
It is reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, you will be called by your names and by your fathers' names, so give yourselves good names." (Hadith Abu Dawud)
Because of D's name, many people thought we were Indonesian Chinese (though they are half right). Also because D is Chinese and has a Malay but Chinese looking Ummi.
We decided on DaniAL after Prophet Daniel as mentioned in the Bible (Old Testament) meaning God is my judge in Hebrew.
It is not an English name but due to Ummi & Papa's inter-racial marriage, we decided on pronouncing DaniAL (Daa Niyyal) as DaniEL. Afterall, we are still referring to the same prophet.
We also chose Harith meaning good provider in Arabic when naming him. Of course, we left it to Kong Kong to give D a good Chinese name :-)
