Once Upon a Time 5x19
Here we go!
-Okay, the Hell Witch picnic/campfire on the hill? Is cute. I am so conflicted. These people are villains. I should not find their little courtship sweet, but yet, here we are.
-All right, here's my thing with Regina. She's speaking the absolute truth to Zelena here but at the same time, it comes off as so damn self-righteous because Regina, sweetie, you basically were Zelena not all that long ago. Yes, you've changed a lot, but let's not pretend that like five months ago in TV time, you weren't trying to find a way to kill Marian after Emma brought her to the present.
(This is where the show's super-tight timeline does the story no favors. Yes, Regina trying to kill Marian was almost two full seasons ago for us but it hasn't been more than a few months for the characters. This makes Regina's good-people-don't-do-this-stuff speeches to Zelena eye-roll-inducing because she herself was doing this stuff like, last week.)
-Cora's flashback dress is absolutely lovely. The deep rich purple is gorgeous. I freakin' want it. And Wee Regina dancing around with Cora's wand was cute, if incredibly naive.
-At this point, Rumple makes me want to bang my head against the wall. I mean, it's great that he's always going to be an evil shithead but I really wish he'd stop with the "I'm sorry, we're doing this my way" nonsense because no, he's not sorry. If he was sorry, he'd at least attempt to do it Belle's way. But he doesn't. Each and every time, he chooses to do it his way, no matter the cost. And again, that's fine, but own it, dude.
-Seeing Hook and Cora reunited made me grin because I loved them in season two! Also, Cora: "So I was right. You were my fairy godmother." Killian: "Well, no one's ever called me that before but I suppose I am." Me: Hee!!
Also also, we didn't see it happen but I personally choose to believe that on the walk back to the Nevengers, Cora teased Killian all, "I told you back then you chose her, didn't I?" ;)
-Wee Zelena was so proud of herself for magicking the logs into their cubby hole that I smiled. Also, because Cora freezing Zelena's jerk of a father made me think of it, how awkward must it be to act frozen? Especially when the character's frozen in an awkward position or with an arm outstretched or something. I wouldn't be able to hold it. :P
-David vs James! Twin shenanigans are afoot! Whee!!
-Emma staring at the pic of Charming and Snow when Javid walked through the apartment door made me awww. I am also so very happy that this little scene explained just how Robin was feeding little Pistachio! So happy, in fact, that I won't question why the Underworld needs a grocery store -- or restaurants, for that matter -- if the dead don't need to eat.
-Cora: "We only have one option." Regina: "What's that?" Cora: "We have to make her forget Hades ever existed." Me: I think there might be other options there, Cora, but still, that's a very you solution.
-Wee Zelena just going and healing Wee Regina while Cora was telling her she had to listen to instruction made me snicker.
-I know people were making fun of it but I kinda love that Emma didn't cotton onto the fact that Javid was really James even after he slapped the cuff on her and pulled the gun on her and Robin. Because while she may be more comfortable with the fairy tale nuttiness, some of this stuff is still a little outside her wheelhouse, and I would think "my dad's dead evil twin took his place" is not something that would jump to her head right away. Hee.
And OMG Emma's disgusted face when Cruella shows up and starts coming onto James is the absolute best. Because 1) ew, and 2) he looks like her dad, for crying out loud. WHEE!
Cruella decking Emma: rude. I get that you're angry, Cruella, but in all honesty, what did you expect when you kidnapped her child and held a gun to his head at the edge of a cliff? Like ... really??
-Cora opening the door that Zelena just slammed in her face by literally lifting a single finger made me smile. Mostly because I love when powerful magic looks effortless. (Prue Halliwell flicking a demon across the room in a random episode of Charmed still makes me grin.)
-Wee Regina and Wee Zelena playing dressup and magic with their overdone little-kid makeup is freakin' adorable.
-Okay, Cora, this is just cold. Pretending to apologize to Zelena just to get her to drink the potion.
-Yo, Cora and Regina, the next time you try to pull a con where you need to get someone a drink of water, maybe actually run a faucet? And I'm actually kind of proud of Zelena for not falling for it and actually yelling back.
-The scene with Cora separating Wee Regina and Wee Zelena actually made me sad. Poor girls and wow, this was cruel.
-Cora actually breaking out the mom voice when Regina and Zelena were going to throw their fireballs at each other and making those fireballs disappear made me giggle. Hee!! I don't exactly buy that returning their memories of each other is enough to make Regina and Zelena forgive and forget everything that's happened since they've found each other again but I do think it gives them a nice foundation to build on going forward.
-Daddy Charming and Killian coming out of nowhere to take down Cruella and James made me aww. Emma running into Killian's arms made me awww even more. And Emma going to magic her way into the battle to protect her daddy made me awww like you wouldn't believe.
So that's one more into the drink. I really hope there's a way to release people from the river because -- and this pulls upon a later plot point but I'll touch on it here -- if freakin' Cora gets eternal paradise, why can't Milah/Gaston/Auntie Em/James?
-Cora: (to Regina) "In the real Storybrooke, when I died ... we never got the chance to say goodbye." (to Zelena) "We never even got to say hello." Me: *tears up* (I was not at all expecting that. That was surprisingly touching.)
-I don't know why, but I absolutely love the bit where Hades blows on the candle to light it.
-How Rumple is it of Rumple to blame Zelena for Belle putting herself under the sleeping curse? *sigh*
