I am going to take a look at my class English 245 Life/Literatrue/Times of J.K. Rowling. The professor, Paul Dworschack-Kinter, is an extremely funny guy. He is a total dork, actually working at a video game store for a long period of time. He is a major Harry Potter and Tolkein fan. He has a young daughter and a loving wife. He talked about the course on the first day and some of his original plans for the class, which included dividing the class into the various houses of Hogwarts. He told us that his wife said she would lose all respect for him if he did that. The class decided to overrule his wife's decision and do it anyway because it would be really fun. Well, he made a quiz up on the spot involving questions to decide what house we would go into. A few examples are favorite color, what would you use magic for, what animal would you be and why, what would you do if a teacher left an answer sheet on their desk and you were the only person left in the room, and what house do you think you should be in. Well, he and his wife sorted us out last night and actually argued over a couple of cases. I was placed into Gryfinndor. We were instructed to choose a Head Boy and Head Girl for each house. The semester's work is worth 400 points with a large portion of it being participation and writing. Going along with participation, he is going to give away points throughout the semester for various acts and add them to house cup tournament points. The Heads are required to keep track of the House's score and are going to have special privy to the D2L site from what it seemed like he was saying. He was mentioning that they were getting something special. Based on the decision of the other guy in Gryfinndor, whom I have already shared a class with and is a pretty nice guy, he said I should be Head Boy and the girls agreed. I swear if I get a Head Boy pin, I will flip for joy. Not only was I placed in Gryfinndor, I am a Head Boy. Every week basically we read one of the HP series or another of two texts and make a response to it on some part of the story. There are two papers, one with 5 pages and another of 10 pages. They are due when Midterms are taking place. When I told my mom that I was in Gryfinndor and Head Boy, she flipped. I feel amazing. Later days.
Edit: Today in class, we did introductions and a girl who just added the class was telling us about herself. She works in the birthing part of the hospital acting as a doctor's assistant. She herself was pregnant and gave the most descriptive term for it and the best one I'm concerned. She said that she was knocked up and that her boyfriend-fiance just slipped one past the goalie. Oh god, this class will rock.
