Right! Here we are, then. *Hangs up trench coat*

*Lights cigarette*

So. Who's the wanker went and torched the angel's place? Shame, that. Don't know him personally, but I've had my eye on him for a while now. They're easy enough to spot, angels, if you know what you're looking for. He's the only more or less decent one I've ever seen, though. His partner seems an all right sort too, for a demon.

I wonder if they went after him, too. I wonder if they're still alive.

It was bound to happen, of course, sooner or later. You can't avoid the Eternal Conflict forever. Believe me, I've tried, and I'm not even supposed to be part of it. Those two were right in the middle of it, and there they were, carrying on under everyone's noses like the world was their private dining room. Can't help but admire the sheer chutzpah. They were lucky it didn't come crashing down on them years ago.

Still, you get to hoping, you know? That somebody, somewhere will manage to stay out of it, in spite of everything. Stay sane, like. That it's possible.

And why not? Why not them? It puts me in mind of the old Northampton Arms, same deal really. They weren't hurting anybody. They just wanted to be left alone. Well, let 'em, says I. Some places ought to bloody well be off-limits, and that little bookshop was one of them.

You know, the more I think about it, the more it hacks me off.

I think I might just have to look into it.
