yeah, and one not so nice day, i was walking on the Millers side of the house down back a quarter mile and sat down in the forest...right next to me i saw yellow jackets coming and going...yikes...i had just missed sitting on their nest...which was literally right next to my ass...can u imagine!
The other day, westerling and I stood outside for, oh, like half an hour or so listening to some ravens in the woods between M.H. Rd. and Wendell Rd. imitating the bullfrogs in the pond...that was amusing.
It's a magical place up there. The pond that used to be a pool. I like the stones that show their faces through the earth down in the big hay field too. Sometimes I would sit on one of those stones and just absorb the vibes. I keep telling westerling she should get back up there again, but she's in mid chapter right now, so we cannot peek ahead in the book...are you doing anything artsy in the coop or downstairs? I remember there was some such plan at one point.
We just got a pellet stove and put it in the chicken coop with hopes that it will be the seed that grows into the pottery studio. Now we just have to get all the other stuff you need to have a pottery studio. :) We have a bunch of clay...
Also I have my 'studio' in one of the bedrooms upstairs...sewing, jewelry and stained glass, among other stuff.
Excellent. I visited some cool pottery studios in my travels through Vermont. No better place to be an artist than the Happy Valley. The burbs to the East and South are a nightmare by comparison. All the cporporate stores etc.
down behind the house
i see bear tracks
trudging thru the new snow
all is quiet
so that at any moment
i could be eaten
by this big black momma
mountains of nuts and berries
she has summerlong consumed
from where once bloomed the violets
near old critter bones entombed
but now she needs winter sleep
amidst the snows and fog
crawing into her den so deep
she'll sleep some months like a log
