Largely about Handsome Siblings...
First off, volume 12 of Wallflower is out. EEEE!
I am halfway through ep 22 of Handsome Siblings. Since I ff past all the non Flower/Orchid stuff, it’s amazing how fast it goes.
Though I confess that Little Fish and Angel resolution made me sniffle like mad. when Angel is dying and turning old super-quick as a result of Evil Liu taking all her ‘vital strength’ (whatever that is) and Fish wants to marry her anyway, and then she accidentally sees a mirror and runs out in horror and people in the marketplace all think she is a monster and she falls and then he is there and he tells her she’s beautiful and there is hugging and she says she is hideous and he gets a knife out and tells her he is going to cut his face up and so she won’t worry about it and…*sigh*
Why do you spoil me with OTPs so, drama?
And the doctor lady is there and says she knows a herb that would turn her back to the way she was for one day but then she will die and she starts pleading for it and she is beside herself and Fish is all ‘give it to her give it to her give it to her give it to her give it to her.’ Because she is going to die super soon anyway, a matter of days, so she should have what she wants and what difference does it make.
And they get married and have one uber-romantic night and then she dies on his shoulder, as they are telling each other silly jokes.
*sniffle*
And he burns her body and wears the ashes in the pouch around his heart.
AWWW.
But with the exception of stuff like that, Orchid/Flower is where it’s at for me.
Let’s start with the whole ‘Orchid is dying and Flower is imprisoned and he is going insane because he can’t be with her’ thing?
Yeah.
AWESOME.
And then he gets out through the nice master (as opposed to Crazy Evil one) in return for a promise to only be away for the night and to never ever see Orchid again as long as he lives (and it totally kills him but he does).
And so he shows up and there is a reunion and it’s awesome but they are both totally sad because he tries to hide the truth but she knows what it is and she wishes time would stop.
And he goes back and he agrees to undergo a spell that would make him stop loving her because that is the only way to protect her from the Crazy One and OMG he is all angsty (and unclad) and bitter and is ‘can’t I have even my memories?’ EEEEEEE!
But Crazy One comes in, in the middle, and modifies it by brainwashing him that Orchid and Fish are having an affair and he should never trust them and then actually gets Flower and Orchid married (yes! Canonical making of babies) and he is all weird and disoriented and Orchid is noticing something is majorly wrong and OMG Crazy One frames Fish/Orchid even further so Flower would have no doubt about ‘cheating’ and he storms out etc etc (may I mention I love how grown up Orchid and Fish are being about this. They know the guy has been brainwashed so it’s not his fault).
And meanwhile evil Crazy One took all vital powers from Orchid and is mistreating her and Orchid now has no martial arts skills etc etc but she escapes anyway.
You know what I love? Even with all of this, Flower has zero interest in Yuyan, scheming villainess, and realizes something is wrong and seeks answers from Princess Moon and finds the truth etc etc. AWESOME.
So eventually we get reunions (glee!!!) with super-awkward apology attempt on his part (he sucks at words) and they are basking in being back together and the fact that she is expecting and there is cuddling and AWESOMENESS.
But things cannot stay happy for long and they are attacked by the bad guys and he is blinded!!!! And he is going to die as it’s poison working to the brain and my favorite scene follows where they are huddling somewhere, together, and he is in his blindfold and he says he can feel her clearly, and he is so panicked when her hands aren’t there for a moment and he says he is happy and OMG OMG. And he asks her to hold him.
*dies*
And she says she remembered a doctor so she takes him there and they arrive somewhere and he asks her, quietly, ‘Why did you take me back to the Floral Palace?’ because he can tell this is where it is and she basically says she’d rather save him than herself and then Crazy One appears and he begs her for Orchid’s life and she knocks him out unconscious.
And she doesn’t want to save Flower so Orchid says she will give her what she wants if she does. And Crazy One tells her that to save him, she will have to kill herself (and the unborn baby, of course) and Orchid agrees. I love that she is so spunky though. The Crazy One is all ‘pregnant? Another bastard!’ and Orchid retorts ‘we are married. You should know, you were there.’ Heh.
So then there is kissing of unconscious boys and her standing on a cliff and writing him a message on the rock in her own blood and jumping off.
*meep* Not dead. No body no death. (Also, I am spoiled).
And he comes to, and goes seeking her and Crazy One tells him she jumped and he goes running to the cliff and sees the message and he is touching it and touches the sword and he starts holding the blood on his hands (hers) to his face and OMG. So angsty.
Did I mention he physically collapses onto his knees at that point? And the Masters appear and he fights them, because he can’t even see anything but loss and hate, but can’t win and he is wounded and he basically escapes the Palace no matter what and when we next see him, he is a complete wreck.
And he comes across Fish, also a wreck, who finds out about Orchid’s death and is devastated. I think not just because he liked her as a sister, but because since he didn’t get his own happy ending, he got over invested. And Flower says he didn’t know, he was in a coma, when she killed herself, but it’s as if he is trying to convince himself, and they have a huge fight and part ways.
Yay. I love my cdrama angst.
