Devil Beside You: almost done
When you show up in the wee hours of the morning with your hot secret boyfriend who is your brother to be to be met by the mother who is mad and worried and is suspecting your brother to be and you are actually much too close and she asks you why you weren't answering your phone, the correct answer is:
a. My battery was out of juice.
b. We were somewhere loud and didn't hear it.
c. Because we went to a hotel.
Hmmmm, I wonder which option our lovers picked. Devil Beside You is not my favorite drama (it's filled with too much cheese and not angsty enough for my liking) but oh boy, it's entertaining.
I am up halfway through ep 17 and I do have random observations, aside from the fact that Mike He is seriously a product of a glorious genetic experiment. And that his fashion designer for this drama should be shot.
I also adore how when he hugs her, he sort of engulfs her, and he shelters her with his coat. EEEE!
The cuteness of Meng and Yue on the beach is totally perfect. I really love the chemistry between Mike and Rainie and all their fun scenes just totally sparkle with it (just like the earlier scene where he falls asleep on her lap). Also, this show is fond of horizontal kissing which is always a good thing.
OMG! Hotel room! Where they go to dry their clothes because they are stuck at the seaside and the trains don't run. And she almost decides to make love with him (as he is in the shower) but her mom calls and the mood is ruined. I am afraid I was bitterly disappointed and kept chanting for them to do it. But I do love that he tells her she shouldn't worry and he won't try anything. And then he goes home with her so she won't go home alone and they decide to tell the truth to her mother. Yay! But come ON! I want SEXING!!!!
How cute is the sequence where Meng is reading Yue's diary from years ago where she is writing about her crush (gosh, the crush thing was boring and Shen wasn't cute at all, but it was worth it for the jealousy bits) and he tears it up and collects it back and keeps reading, getting more and more upset? And she knows he is doing it so she sends him phone pics of self making faces.
A HARRY POTTER REFERENCE! Guys in Meng's gang discussing what constitutes lousy X-mas presents and talking about knitting stuff and referencing sweaters knitted by Molly and saying 'Ron hated them too.' OK, they are a gang who reads Harry Potter? :P
Meng is such a guy, but I did love it when he told her how he'd find her anywhere (on the beach). Awwww. And when he got all speechless when he saw her in a wedding type dress. And the whole Xmas party thing was adorable, with Yue kissing Meng first, and her trying to throw away gloves she knitted him (which are dreadful) because they are tacky and he claims them matter of factly and she says it's her love letter. And he gives her one glove back :) And they walk holding the ungloved hand. Of course, grandma finds out about them dating (hint, don't make out on national TV) and there is trouble. And he makes her a 'glove of love' (heeeeee) and it's the tackiest, sappiest, silliest, cutest thing. Seriously.
I also loved the continuing thing with Yuan Yi and Qing Zi. I love how he ditched the game and went to find her (and rescued her) because she gave him an ultimatum and he does love her (and she doesn't want to be the one always chasing and feels insecure) but then he told her that he wants to cherish her but she should cherish herself first and that he loves to have her around when he plays bball because he wants her to be proud of him, but she gave him a stupid ultimatum and a stupid choice. And she tells him he loves him. And he tells her he will take initiative from now on and won't make her do all the work. And then him trying to figure out how to kiss her and then just doing it. AWWWW
This is the cheesiest one I've seen so far but I like cheese so it's OK. I am not in love with it the way I've been with others, but it is fun.
