A Love to Kill: if you watch only one dorama, make it this one! (Well, actually this one and Mars)

Oh. My. God.

This is the best ep yet.

I just love how tender and sweet Bokgu is with Da Jeong. I know he views her as a little sister and he feels beholden to her and he knows she is in love with him so he is extra caring, but it's adorable. I love the scene where he picks her up (she's been at the police station, futily trying to get arrested a woman who stole the money she was saving for the plastic surgery for her burns), slings her over his shoulder and just walks on. I am totally impressed with Rain being able to lug around all these women (earlier in the ep ES, in the scene I'll get to later and now DJ). I mean, he's got a pretty slender frame. He has got to have an amazing chiropractor. And then when they are back to her room, he pretends his shoulder hurts to distract her and she says she'll go on a diet. And he removes the scarf she wears around her throat to conceal the burns and looks at the burn, as her hands go to her neck, and says 'I think it's pretty.' And she tells him that she feels all shameful and dirty and disgusting and he leans in and kisses her neck where the burn is. Twice. And tells her he likes it, so she shouldn't go look for the woman. And walks off. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! The sound you hear is my dead body hitting the floor.

Bu you know what I loved even more? The earlier scene where Da Jeong leans in to kiss sleeping Bokgu and withdraws and he wakes up and cups her face and he is almost kissing her but then he flashes to that incredible kiss with ES and he can't kiss DJ after all. EEEE!

I continue to dislike Mingu. OK, he was a lousy brother. As a boyfriend, he kinda sucked too. If you ditched the girl yourself (yes, yes, the stepmom lied, but chickie kept leaving you all those voicemails where ES herself keeps begging you to take her back), to be all emo suicidal when she does move on and gets engaged is beyond ridiculous. He is the author of his own misfortunes.

But you know what THE BEST SCENE IN THE WHOLE EP is? Fiance takes up drunk and confused ES to his hotel room (I take back what I said about liking him. Scum. I don't care how drunk you are, taking a woman who is incapacitated (and probably a virgin) to the hotel to sleep with you, when she doesn't even know where she is and thinks she is somewhere else, and doesn't like you is DESPICABLE). And Bokgu drops both of them off at the hotel and the fiance walks up with the clearly out of it ES to the lobby and Bokgu just sits in the car. And then he opens the door, not even paying attention to the parking attendant and runs up the stairs and then he is in the hotel room, and fiance is asking him what he is doing there and he says 'Please return ES to me. I am her bodyguard and it's my job to protect her. She doesn't even know where he is.' And the fiance is all 'do you know who I am?' and Bokgu is all intense and focused and keeps on saying he wants to take ES back. And then fiance fires him and Bokgu says 'Yes. I will still complete my job for the evening.' And when the fiance asks what happens if he won't comply, Bokgu replies 'Then I will hit you.' And he is so calm and collected and composed. And the fiance hits him and all Bokgu says is 'Return Miss ES to me' And again and the same thing. EEEE! And then he just picks unconscious ES and carries her out, still utterly collected.

I LOVE. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE.

It's interesting, because Bokgu is really confused in his feelings for her. But also, even though he hates her, and having her raped would be one hell of a revenge, he can't see it happen to her. But then, of course, she is almost falling off during a promo shoot and he runs and grabs her hand but then he hears (he has his phone in his ear all the time) that his brother is dying and you can see him let go of her hand as he asks (silently) 'Brother, do you want to take this girl with you?' Whoa. Creepy. And the ep closes on a cliffy.

ES is crazy if she likes him (which she does) because the boy clearly has crazy issues, even if she doesn't know what they are, and is clearly dangerous. Maybe she feels she isn't worthy of normality. And he does keep rescuing her and they have psycho chemistry. Still, she is better off elsewhere. I did crack up at the scene where she came looking for him at the gym to try to talk about the kissing and he removed his shirt (whoa) and still not paying attention to her as she is asking him things, started to remove his pants. And she closed her eyes. Heeee. Silly girl. I wouldn't :P

Last note. I really do love the way this is shot. I love the scene where ES and her friend are watching the end of 'Cinema Paradiso,' that beautiful kisses montage at the end. And you see that as ES watches, her kiss with Bokgu on the beach gets melded into the scene...

LOVE.
