OK, Prison Break and/or Queer As Folk. Yay or Nay? I am thinking of dling or Netflixing, but don't want to have a Felicity or Dawson's Creek mark 2 where they made my head hurt

PB has never snagged me. QaF, though . . . . mmmm, *cough* ahem. tere is more beyond eye-candy, and i was going to say no Incredibly Stupid Person as on Felicity, but then i remembered Michael. yeah, i tend to just block him out because he gets on my last nerve. that said, i love the show, so there has got to be something there to keep me going back for more (and his name is Brian i'm-an-ass Kinney).
my work here is done. have you gotten into House yet? not shippy as your usual fare seems to be (until the beginning of season 2 or you just read into the flashing red light of the subtext with Wilson and House), but the snark is wonderful!
:) I never watched House because BFF is a surgical resident and she says this show has nothing in common with real doctors. Still. That icon is mighty tempting...
of course it isn't. but it's still fun as hell. hugh laurie just continues to amaze me, considering i imprited on him as the bumbing prince ludwig in Blackadder II, not to mention the prince regent in Balckadder III.
::selects porn tongue icon again:: c'mon, one disc from netflix. . . .
Speaking of the whole "tried and rejected", what about Alias? (I vaguely think I have asked you that before, probably when the whole Felicity came up) Because that's another show I didn't particularly like and where I know the main couple got a HEA.
It's in the queue somewhere, but the premise sounds daft (yes, this is coming from the girl who watches doramas). As to Lost, it has my pet aversions in a bunch: large ensemble cast, mystery that it doesn't seem TPTB know what to do with or what it's really about. Plus, it's by creater of Felicity *shudder*
I dunno, I could never get into Alias, mostly because something about it gave me a headache. But I realized I'm really totally picky with what I want a show to look like stylistically. I can't watch BSG or Dr. Who because they just look visually drab to me, I can't even begin getting into the storylines and characters

BTW, you still haven't watched Bones. (yes, I know, I know, it's a boring procedural, but I love the characterisations, which are actually quite strong for a procedural [even if I hate the main characters backstory])
But darn, the main (only?) couple is so cute when they are being cute.
4400 is a very strong, very tightly written, continuity having non-procedural. Unfortunately, no big sweeping couples (though there is Tom and Allana who have a very unique romantic origin story). And my friendlist seems to be going nuts over Like on Mars and Entourage.
I can second the Bones recommendation. It came out on DVD very recently, IIRC. To be honest there are things about Bones that bug me but the good stuff usually wins out and I'm considering getting it on DVD for that myself.
Bones = Nice, pretty timepass + some very nice character moments.
I makes me wonder though, if it isn't shows and situations like this that inspire fanfic. I mean, Bones, I think, really havs above average lightness and character focus for a procedural. It's not like CSI where they sometimes seem to "test" characters with each other and then screw it up. They obviously are intentionally writing Bones and Boothe. The thing is that even on a show that is very open to character interaction, they can't do it all the time. So even if the material is good and they can have very emotional moments, you almost have to write fanfiction for certain things, if you want to expand.
Oh, wait, I just thought of another really popular couple that is going around these days Jim and Pam from The Office. It's a comedy (a bit on the strange side, I would recommend watching two or three episodes to get used to it) about a group of office people. Jim and Pam is basically a slow crush story, he is in love with her, but doesn't dare to say it for the

I hate to be the snobby original fangirl but I have to say, the British original of The Office is much funnier, even if you don't catch all the cultural references. The "format" of Jim/Pam that comes from the original works great in the US version, too, but it's so much better in the original UK version. I like the way they deal with it in it much more. The kiss in the US version was a huge disappointment for me for a reason I can't really pinpoint.
Thing is, I have a million comedy favourites with good pairings but I'm under the impression dangermousie isn't all that into shows that're *just* comedies so I'm not hasty to recommend them.
Have you read any Bones fic? I haven't found anything that's been really good so far, which annoys me because yeah, it's a good show for fanfiction.
I haven't seen the UK version I must admit. But I trust you that it's good :) I was gonna bring up Arrested Development as well, but then thought that Jim/Pam are probably a much more normal and traditional story (they are the normal people surrounded by the Teh Crazy, even if it is more the realistic crazy kind of thing).
Haven't really found any Bones fic :( I admit I haven't looked for it either. Maybe the fandom is just too new? I think it mostly takes a while for a show to develop the kind of fandom that supports/writes quality longer stories. I heard the CSI fandom has a lot of quality longer "casefile" stories, for all pairings (real, UC, het, slash).
There's bonesfic but I've not found anything really good to read there, sadly. One story written for Yuletide (http://yuletidetreasure.org) was good but a bit too vague for my taste. I need someone in the fandom to rec me stories or something.
