Marmalade Boy is giving me food poisoning. I have no doubt it's a fairly realistic portrayal of what average, well-adjusted 17 year olds would be like in their friendships and romance but it bores the HELL out of me.
I do not care about your boyfriend problems. I do not care whether the fact that the cute boy put his arm around you during a scary movie means he likes you. I do not care that you think it's cool when you and your crush go grocery shopping, like you live together (I remember feeling that way and it was delicious, but as to watching it? Yawn).
I do NOT freaking care.
I want angst, I want drama, I want cool characters, and issues and fights and heroism and tragedy. This? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I don't care about your teenage life unless you deal with class issues and really strong fascinating clashing personalities (a la Hana Yori Dango) or you have complicated plot, adventure, fantasy, and star-crossed angst (a la Fushigi Yuugi or Ayashi No Ceres).
Also, I want fancy artwork. And hot guys. And no 80s clothes. And the teacher-student thing is sick.
Teeniebopper version of kitchen sink is BORING.
And yet I know I will force myself to watch the whole thing (thankfully on 8x) because anal. Argh.
Where is conflict (that is actually interesting?) Or drama? Or angst. Bah Humbug. Bring on the faux sibcest!!!!
This is actually not a bad show. It's a very goo show of its genre. But not what I am looking for. I love Yuu's treatment of Miki, I love the emotional moments when they have them. But the rest of it bores me stiff and it's 90% of the show.
ETA: TPTB listened to me! Should have ranted earlier as right now Miki almost got trampeld by a horse and Yuu rescued her and freaked, and she ran crying into his arms. Much better. Keep it up.
