The four parents of Marmalade Boy are seriously severe weirdo hippies permanently stuck in a 60s drug trip. That is the only way I can explain them.
I am liking Yuu more and more. Teasing and boyish as he generally is, he is remarkably grown-up when it comes to approaching real problems. And his laid-back maturity makes a really good combo with Miki's delightful drama queen histrionics (she reminds me of Maria from Roswell). Love the scene where he climbs to her window when she is engaging in one such (admittedly well-deserved) fit and makes her see the light and calms her down by being gentle and yet very matter of fact. And he wipes her tears too. He is a really good crisis-solver.
I am also trying to figure out the bizarre arithmetic of manga to anime conversion. HYD has 36 volumes and is a 51 ep series. But granted, the anime was done and finished while the manga was still running, so fine. Fushigi Yuugi's 13 volumes are turned into a 52 ep series. But Ayashi No Ceres' 14 are turned into a 24 ep one. Then there is Marmalade Boy which has 8 volumes and 76 episodes. Heeeeeeelp.
