Why did nobody inform me City of Bones is being made into a movie?!

There is a trailer and everything:

I bet fandom is having the world's biggest conniption due to Cassandra Clare's fraught relationship with it, but I am an unabashed CC fan and adore her Mortal Instruments series (which should have stayed a trilogy but oh well) to bits. It's pretty much a kdrama on steroids and Jace is the angsty-sexy-deadly- ( Read more... )

I enjoyed the first book- and then promptly forgot about it and never read the other two. Then found "Clockwork Angel" and got confused and didn't know it was a different series (The Infernal Devices) so read it and truly thought I had forgotten a whole heck of a lot from the first book. So dug out my copy of CoB and realised that I had a completely different series on my hands. (Well a prequel anyway) LOL

Anyway, that long story of which I am sure you are so happy I shared, is me saying that I better get busy and read the rest of the The Mortal Insturment stories before the movie comes out. :)

I too am looking forward to the crazy of it all.

The crazy is delicious. And it gets crazier. There is a scene in the 5th book where Jace, who she used to think is her brother, is sort-of-possessed by her real brother, and she is having make-outs with him, and it's seriously Vampire Knight level fucked up :) I can't help but love her real sibling who is super-evil and possibly soulless but does like his little sis and is all, 'come on, we can share him, don't be stingy' about Jace. Ahahahahahahaha

I discovered a movie was being made a few weeks ago when I was on IMDB (checking out either Vampire Diaries or The Hobbit, can't remember which).

Now it makes me want to read it. I have all the books but never read them except for a few chapters of the first one.

The first book starts slowly (IMO) but by about halfway, I was ridiculously obsessed. It's not great literature or anything but it's angsty and entertaining, just how I like it. Plus, I think Clary/Jace will be very much your thing because she is pretty much his meaning in life blah blah.

Yeah, that's pretty much written for me^^

I was a fan of her HP Draco Trilogy so I know what to expect writing-wise.

I am still impressed she finished her DT - that thing ended up being longer than war and peace!

I am unfamiliar with PC Cast, Are the books good?

As far as I am aware, nobody sparkles in Mortal Instruments, there is fakecest, and heroine does her best to kill her father, so it's much better than Twilight :)

I thought you knew! You always know this stuff! I heard about it back when they cast Madam Eyebrows as Clary. The trailer looks pretty good, though. :) I agree about the fauxcest - how will they deal with that in the movie? They should do Infernal Devices, too. I can totally see Yoo Seung Ho as Jem - especially with that cane he's been carting around in IMY.

I have no idea about the fakecest thing - especially if they ever make book 2 into a movie where they make out despite thinking they are siblings and Jace begs her for a secret relationship (or book 3 where they almost have sex in the ruins while thinking they ate siblings.though I suppose that will be less problematic as the truth is out at the end).

YSH would be a great Jem. Tbh, I could totally transpose the thing to Korea and pick kdrama cast for both series. They are pretty much kdramas already.

YESSSS!!! The angst! The snark! The dysfunction! I'm SO excited about this movie. I'm also an unabashed fan CC and fanon!Draco! Also, when did Jamie Campbell Bower get so pretty? I don't remember him being this easy on the eyes.

I am unfamiliar with JCB but definitely he is yummy and Jace-like. Now all he needs to do is angst as if his life depended on it. :)

I used to loooove her Draco trilogy. Good times.
