Joon Hee breaks my heart. and Not even just because he loves his friend and his friend doesnt or cant love him back. I think its not even just the issue that Yoon Jae prefers girls, but that he already likes someone else and doesnt see Joon Hee in that way. Straight people CAN fall in love with someone of the same sex since sexuality is fluid and can change or expand over time. (tho tbf this happens alot more with girls than guys but still it happens!) and in fact for all we know Joon Hee was straight or thought he was until he fell for Yoon Jae. but yeah thats def where this drama is going. esp since this is a kdrama -_-. What really hurts me tho is knowing that Joon Hee is gonna live his life in the closet and having to hide his sexuality from people his whole life because the country he lives in is super hostile to gay people. Esp since outside of say gay clubs, Joon Hee will never know if someone is gay or not or at least not disgusted by the idea before confessing to them. thus there is always a chance that person will 1. be so disgusted by JH's confession they attack him 2. that person will out Joon Hee to everyone else and thus ruin his life. So yeah :(
Regardless of whether one believes in fluid sexuality (I do not - Kinsey scale, sure, but not fluid sexuality. But that is a discussion for another time), I agree that JH is pretty doomed - his friend is unlikely to suddenly think 'hmmm, maybe I like boys too' in 1990s Korea and after being in love with Shi Won.
