This episode was pretty much shippy heaven but it also moved the story forward and I loved the subplot about the erratically brilliant programmer. Hyuga's second-in-command is a total false facade creep with his fake niceness which means nothing (as compared to Hyuga's no-nonsense attitude where you know how you stand). Chiriko continues to bring the best out in Hyuga and she pretty much badgers him into doing right things without knowing her power (which is precisely why it works). Oh, and then the bombshell at the end of the ep...
He made business cards for her! Also, the teasing is adorable!
Chiriko listening to Hyuga lying that he is not interested in his birth mother, who dumped him. Interesting that Asahina was disappointed when he realized it was a lie because he needs the not-human Hyuga of his imagination because that provides excuse for his own inaction. Chihiro, OTOH, sees that being human is best. I wonder if Asahina will not like growing closeness between Hyuga and Chihiro either - it's clear that for Hyuga, outside the small circle of people he either cares for or find interesting, people are pretty much abstractions (in part due to his disability, but it part due to mindset - though who knows what of the two came first). And Asahina likes this so expanding the circle, especially since Chihiro badgers him to be more human, is something he wouldn't be keen on.
Here for dweeby Hyuga. LOL.
Their first interaction. I loved how somehow he managed to encourage her while being his usual brusque self and when he said he wished his Mom was like hers...awwwww.
Faces! Her reading him the riot act! His teasing! LOL.
I loved the whole subplot with the programmer but this was my fave part - he's totally checking out her reactions...
This sequence was adorable. He sees her waiting for an arranged date that fell through and totally crashes it. And she gets a little tipsy and she is so adorable I can see why he is falling because I am falling a bit myself. And I love the way he is so amused and grinny and you can pretty much see him fall deeper in front of your eyes...
OMG my heart! Drunken stumble into his arms!
Only she drunkenly blurts out about his coming to her inn looking for his mother. Fuuuuuuuuck!!! It would take a much dimmer man than the resident socially-challenged genius to figure out that if she knew that, than she concealed that she met him before and also that her name isn't Chiriko and she used it on purpose knowing it was his mother's name. Fuuuuck! It kills me, how betrayed he looks - he lets so few people in and he must think one of the few people he allowed himself to be human in played him. I am not surprised he tells her he never wants to see her again. I am also shocked they revealed both how she knew about his mother and that he finds out this soon. I love the pace (also, the sooner it is revealed, the sooner they can move on past it - the longer it would have went on, the harder it would have been). I wish she was able to tell him herself, like she planned, but this is a drama, after all...
Bring on ep 4!
