Dysfunction and some more dysfunction...

Was this ever advertised as a romcom? Because ep 15 (yes, I know I am behind) was depressing enough to make me want to eat my own head!

It's pretty rare that I find the OTP too dysfunctional for a possibility of a happy ending but I do here. I mean, I am almost sure this will have a HEA because of original romcom label (wrongest label ever btw!) but in real life, there is no way you get over all this stuff and have a normal relationship. OK, maybe they can stay together but it's not in a healthy functional relationship but a codependent, utterly messed up one.

Also, we get to the crux of the thing - which is her mission was to seduce him to make him defect and now he is not defecting, they are pretty much kidnapping him at gunpoint. The moment the implicit wrongness becomes explicit, all I feel is a desire for all the spies to basically DIAF because that is so wrong it drives me insane (especially since it's North Freaking Korea, worst place on earth). As someone from a former Communist country, I have extremely strong opinions on this stuff and it pisses me off more than if Ryu and Myung Wol have been skinning puppies because to be in KW's place is pretty much my nightmare scenario.

Kang Woo is all set to be an abused housewife or something because I want to shake him and yell "why are you so desperate about whether she loved you a little at all when YOU ARE BEING TAKEN TO NORTH KOREA!!!" and "you have a chance to run away, do it, why are you worried that this may result in MW being killed for failure of mission, when she told you she only played you and never loved you, kept you prisoner at gunpoint AND PLANS TO TAKE YOU TO NORTH KOREA!!!!"

But of course she loves him and when he won't take the chance to run away (twice!) when she gives it to him, she makes him go at gunpoint. Ah, dysfunction is this OTP's motto.
Especially since he proposes marriage after all of this.

I have a confession - by now I want every major character to horribly die except for KW and MW and for those two to get about a decade of therapy each.

eric mun, dysfunctional romance reigns supreme, myung wol the spy, han ye seul, doramas4
