Bichunmoo - the best wuxia-sageuk fusion you are not watching

Apr 15, 2011 22:12

I am getting an irresisible urge to dig out my DVDs of Bichunmoo, the Mainland/Korean wuxia/period co-production (my Chinese version DVDs - the Korean version hacked the drama considerably to make it shorter).

Sounds interesting. I still have not touched my own copy of Bichunmoo. Still watching another periodic Cdrama wuxia - Da Qi Ying Xiong Zhuan (Legend of the Big Flag Hero)

Yep...the lead girl is Korean too. I am still in ep 11, so far I like what I saw. Read that the story is one of the author's (Ku-Lung) best works. I have read several of Ku-lung's books long before. I prefer his earlier works.

Don't quite understand...Is the story set in Korea or China? I see them wearing Han clothes/Han wedding attire, but then that lady wears the Korean garb sometimes too. But the setting does look very Chinese...

Is the show dubbed in Chinese? Or are they just Koreans who landed in China for some reason?

Looks beautiful no matter what.

In China and dubbed into Chinese (though I think the hero is somehow supposed to be Korean). Korean version had JJM and heroine's original voices but had to dub Chinese actors and also cut a ton of stuff so I prefer the cdrama one.

The father's hero is either the bodyguard of a Korean prince or the prince himself (damn I recently watched the first episodes, I should know better *gg*) who became a hostage. That's why Jin-ha was born in China and why the story takes place there, but he is definitely Korean.

Do you start with the first episode? Because I'd join you around episode 12, that's when I stopped last and I'd love to do a proper rewatch.

I think he was the prince, if I remember correctly.

Yup, I am going to start afresh because I don't remember it too well. I'll get o 12 or so by next week, I think.

I would totally love to watch Bichunmoo along with you!! Lets just say Joo Jin Mo is reason enough :)

Sadly, I don't have the DVDs and I (vaguely) remember watching the Korean version...and now that you mention that the Chinese version is out there, I need to get my hands on them...like now.

Those MV's - JJM makes my heart skip!!!! thank you for the post - I need to buy these DVD's and come back and spazz out

Have an awesome weekend :)

that is so so tempting mousie. Especially since King Geunchogo has officially gone insane and has idols playing princesses and hidden princes fishing with swords. Someone kill me now. Let me go see if I can find it.....

Could not make that up if I tried. Yes, in today's lovely episode, the lost prince (parents think dead, really rescued by maid and soldier who couldn't kill him - yes, the show really did go there) was fishing...with a sword. And yes, the idol girls showed up as perky little princesses I just wanted to smack the smirks off of. The show is officially insane now.
