Young Warriors of the Yang Clan v. Warriors of the Yang Clan - battle royale

Mar 15, 2011 14:59

Because I am an obsessive individual (this livejournal is a years-long testament to that fact), the very fact that I am in the middle of and loving Young Warriors of the Yang Clan ensured I'll check out Warriors of the Yang Clan, the other drama take on Yang story that is available with subs and which stars Alec Su and Chae Rim. I have just ( Read more... )

Hey, you are never allowed to call yourself the anti-me! *sniffles*

On the otherhand, have some Alec with a spear, oh yes, be my guest. I never found him attractive (other than a cute BnextD way) until Warriors either.

So we're on the same wavelength here. Tho I still find Peter Ho fugly but a super duper 100% great guy in RL. Wish I can ship RL Peter Ho instead off onscreen Peter Ho.

LOL. I am only anti-you in respect to Peter Ho, I promise. :)

It's funny, I saw clips of Alec Su in other period dramas (something set in the Qing) and it confirmed my "not my thing" feeling but here - rawr.

Speaking of actors we both dislike, did you see Jang Nara is doing a kdrama comeback? *shudder* She's one of only three drama actors where I automatically won't watch because she's in it no matter costars, topic, director etc. I hope they don't cast anyone I actually like opposite her.

Out of curiosity, who are the other unfortunate two? And how come you dislike Jang Nara?

I've never seen her in anything, so I was actually looking at that upcoming kdrama of hers with some interest - sounded like something different from all the "Ultra Dramatic Chaebol Drama!" we've been given lately. As for her opposite number, it's supposedly Choi Daniel, so I hope you're not overly fond of him :P - it hasn't been 100% confirmed yet, but looks like it might head that way.

Hooray! I am indifferent to Choi Daniel ( ... )

I don't have too many specific Korean actors/actresses that would make me avoid a drama at all costs, though Goo Hye Sun's probably the closest I can think of at the moment. And yes, Yoona; any idol actress usually sets off my alarm bells, actually. Now if we talk about jdrama or twdrama actors/actresses, there are a million of them that just sets my teeth on edge. I would never watch anything with Horikita Maki/Cyndi Wang/Rainie Yang in it, not even if you paid me.

I actually don't mind Ming Dao (I still think he's fug, but I can live with it) and I haven't seen Ryu Shi Won in anything. Boy I'm glad you mentioned that, because I've been debating for a while whether I should brave My Love Patzzi for Kim Rae Won, whom I LOVE but tends to choose really bad projects.

Hmmm, I am fond of all three ladies you mention actually. I have a REALLY high bar for writing them off :)

Re: Ming Dao. Oh, thank God, someone else thinks he's hideous. I don't think he's particularly charismatic either and I am irrationally annoyed at him because of his fangirls:

Re: KRW. Yes. Love the man but his projects are uniformly lousy. Lee Min Ho, past generation?

Re: Baby-faced Beauty (that new drama with Jang Nara and Choi Daniel), apparently the 2nd male/female leads will be Ryu Jin and Kim Min Seo. This is looking worse and worse (or better for you, LOL). I'm not writing this off completely yet, but the setup will have to be pretty damn good. Ryu Jin has rare performances where he's amazing (i.e. Capital Scandal) but otherwise he's Mr. McWooden. And Kim Min Seo = Cho Sun from SKKS, i.e. a newbie.

I don't know, it's weird. I guess it depends on the vibe they give me + what I've seen them in? I can bear some universally criticized ones like Toda Erika, but then show me Horikita Maki and I'll just break out in hives. Same with YEH, who's universally loved but I'm totally indifferent to her, but I like Lee Da Hae and Han Ye Sul, who're popular objects of bashing. I've given up understanding how my brain works. :P

Re: Ming Dao/KKLY - OMG, what the hell! I'm glad I never picked that one up. "He sexually assaulted her to warn her = spicy" omg I think if I didn't laugh I'd just cry. Then again, ( ... )

Yes, with that cast, I feel pretty free in skipping. Hooray.

Re: KKLY - the best part was the universal AF rage when heroine didn't end up with Ming Dao but the other man (the non-rapist played by Dylan Kuo). Even though he was her OTP from the start and not a rapist. LOL.

Re: YAI. I don't find him too hot. Shocking, I know. I do think he's a good actor and wish he'd pick better projects.
