My most anticipated show

is, oddly, not a drama but an upcoming Showtime show The Borgias. Trailer:

I am sure they will murder history but I majored in history with specialization in medieval/Renaissance Italy plus this has been a hobby/obsession for years so I am desperate for this.

the borgias, teevee

i have been waiting for this show, the borgias are fascinating. from the trailer i think i want it to be better than it looks, there is an abundance of Ham, but still, i am excited.

I am sure it will be cheesy but hopefully entertaining too.

OMG! I totally ship Cesare and Lucrezia! I don't care that they are siblings...

I have been waiting for this show for months!

I've been looking forward to this for awhile too! =D I've always liked Borgia stories ever since I read the manga Cantarella.

Is that the one where Cesare literally had his soul sold to the devil?

Yes indeed. It also contains Machiavelli as a tiny little magician with butterfly wings! Things like this are why I love Japan. =D

It's like Borgias meet Twilight :)

The song made me laugh and think of teen movies.

I have yet to see an American tv show not butcher history (I am less familiar with either history or tv shows of other places. One exception being Three Kingdoms which seems to be sticking to at least the accepted legend-colored version of that period of Chinese history pretty closely). So I am OK as long as it's good as a work of fiction. I am currently reading a mistery where the author turned Lucrezia's second husband into the first so clearly there is a long tradition of messing with Borgia history.

I so can't wait either. That family was worse than the Godfather's.

Yup, and that is what will make them entertaining to watch.
