Well, the title of the new drama references a famous event during the Warring States period involving the Tiger 'Amulet' of Wei, which basically gives military authority equivalent of the Wei emperor to whomever holds it. Historically, the Wei emperor's concubine Ru stole the amulet to give to Xin Lingjun, a prominent (not noble but something similar) political mover-and-shaker in Zhao, in order to fend off Qin (of Qin dynasty fame). This sort of thing, of course, was frowned upon, and when the Wei emperor threw the expected hissy fit, Concubine Ru replied that she did this in service of both Wei (to weaken a potential conqueror) and to avenge her father, who was a regional lord, and presumably killed in battle before she was married to the Wei emperor. Later, after the emperor sends her to the 'cold palace' (don't know if there is an English equivalent), she commits suicide at her father's grave.

Err... in this version the story is that Concubine Ru (Yang Mi) was in love with Xin Lingjun (Feng Shaofeng), but somehow married the Emperor of Wei instead and I'm guessing all the incipient tragedy follows.

In summary: they're playing star-crossed lovers in period Chinese drama - tears guaranteed.

OMG! Thanks for the info. Recently found out about this and now dying to watch it. I thought nothing could beat the combo of Fenolie but Yang Mi and FSF are just as cute. Strange thing is there's not too much info on this new drama, at least none that I can find..aka: google. Heard it'll air towards the end of the year!!!^^

I just posted a few stills I found, but yes, info seems to be scarce. Is it the same production house as did JPLH?

Btw, what does Fenolie stand for?

Fenolie = FSF + Myolie Wu. FSF & Myolie first appeared together in a joint TVB/mainland production called The Drive Of Life a few years ago and that's when the term "Fenolie" was started. They also played a couple again in Yu Zheng's drama Mei Ren Jin Xi. Myolie is my favorite actress so I'm quite partial to her. I think there are a good number of "Fenolie" fans out there like myself. Unfortunately, Myolie is with TVB (Hong Kong) so chances of her filming with FSF again is low compared to Ady or Yang Mi, who film mainland dramas like FSF.

Regarding FSF and Yang Mi, I think I've heard ppl combining their names into FengMi...lol.
