First/second episode of Four Women Conflict - there have been more cheerful funerals

In case anyone is looking for dl links, they can find them here.

Though, be warned, Ady An's faces in this post pretty much express the cheeriness quota of this.

OK, I am barely five minutes into Four Women Conflict and a newly widowed stepmother has just sold her barely pubescent stepdaughter into a brothel. I think I am going to be sick.

This is going to be cheery. Please tell me the little kid is not the heroine.

Crap, she is.

Oh, thank God her childhood love rescued her and burned her stepmom to a crisp.

You know, I may not last much with this, this looks depressing enough for me to eat my own head.

ETA: OK, that was her nightmare flashback, currently she's a maid in some house and it doesn't look too horrific, so we'll see. Except the husband fancies her and the wife's reaction is "you can do anything you like outside but don't seduce the maids inside the house." Jesus. Except he's still after her. What is it with Ady An playing characters in danger of sexual assault (The Outsiders, Autumn Concerto, now this?) And now she's ordered to be whipped by the jealous wife. Who then marries her off to some ugly moron who limps and stammers.

ETA2: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT???? She gets raped by her former master on her wedding night (who bullies her husband into letting him). And now she's in the bathtub scrubbing her skin off. And the raping thing turns into a systemic thing.

OK, that's it. I am out. I admire that she turns into an angry fury with spine of steel and with nothing but hatred and scorn for her husband after this but no. I can't. I really do want to see Feng Shao Feng as the guy who is hired by the jealous wife to seduce heroine but falls for her instead and they have angsty angsty love and he treasures her and trusts her and heals her with his penis love, but there is only so much misery I can take to get to that point.

I am going to get back to it when I feel like something horribly depressing. But for now, back to Sunny Happiness. I'll just have to get my FSF fix from Jade Palace Lock Heart, where there is no horribleness like this and my Ady An fix from rewatching Autumn Concerto (not The Outsiders because talk about a tragedy) or checking out Dragon Sword and Heaven Sabre.

Don't get me wrong, none of the above indicates it's a bad drama - it's well-acted, beautifully filmed and the story is not badly written. It's just more depressing than your average Russian classic novel.

four women conflict, feng shao feng, too depressing for dostoyevsky, screencaps3, ady an, doramas4
