Chivalrous notions of battle confuse me

So, let me get this straight - if some upper-class warrior rides up to the enemy stronghold and challenges them, you can't just shoot him from the walls or send a mob of 100 people to cut him down. In fact, even if you send someone down for single combat, they are supposed to be of proper rank (whether earned or born with). OK, so far so good, if ( Read more... )

They wont do the arrowing and battle en masse ever fr the get go, not over a LuBu and EvilDong, that's last resort and stupid in practicality. At this stage of the story, the 3 fractions r not yet established and it's premature to get on a full on battle with LuBu/Evil Dong who have a huge army surrounding their fortress, if they instigated, they r outnumbered and will not last long enough for backups to arrive.

They do play by their honor book, plus it's practical to just fight 1-1 big shot vs big shot instead of wasting soldier headcount in a full on.

So, they sent out/ brave silly ones valiantly volunteered and 3x is usu the cut off of, as in they've given LuBu his hard earned deserving respect. (he has a catch phrase coined after him being #1 warrior in the land)

LuBu is taunting. He asked for 18 of them. Liu Bei + his 2 blood sworn brothers have totally a BL 3P vibe, so when 1 of them is close to death under LuBu's BIG spearsword, they have to throw honor out the door and save life of precious bro rinse and repeat, we have they fight in 3, glorifying the 3some's brotherhood. Afterall, they r looked down upon/havent made their name in the 18 warlords camp, so nobody is going to join them in getting sliced by LuBu.

Oh, that makes sense.

I got to say, if this had an American fandom the three bros would be slashed to no end.
