I've cleaned up most of my Rock Rock Rock caps (there may be an additional small batch of more ep 4 caps coming) so here they are. Warning (though is it really the kind of thing one needs to warn about?): 90% of these are of No Min Woo, in part because the drama is all about him, all the time, and in part because he's ridiculously gorgeous.
Not sure if this reference is going to make sense to a lot of my flist, but after watching this, I've finally found someone to play Sakuya in the in-my-head adaptation of Sensual Phrase - sexy and messed-up rocker? Yup - perfect. I've never really found anyone who fit my mental idea of it before but now I have. (Obviously this is only in my head but who cares as chances of SP being adapted as live action anywhere = zero, due to it being majorly x-rated).
With high school gf - I have to say the awkwardness rang very true to me - high school boys are the same world over, apparently.
Gf got roughed up by thugs because thug leader digs her which leads to a fight and the whole "it's us against the world flight on their part - ill-thought out. I was glad it didn't work out actually because the other alternative is The Outsiders and we know how well that went. (You know, it just may be a theme of this drama - that the protagonist is a person without any stops and any filters - which may make him write some awesome music but also makes it pretty hard to function in the world).
But it doesn't work out of course and she leaves.
Cue a suicide attempt - this is not romantic, this is completely messed up! Thankfully the drama sees it the same way.
And a farewell meeting (and the rain scene I posted earlier)
More plot :)
No idea who this guy is, he had a fairly minor role, but mmmmmmmmmmmm. Hot.
The first love story is told in flashback as a sort of a drunken sobfest to his future wife. I gotta say, this is their first meeting and she has to cart his drunken ass home after listening him go on and on about this first love - there is no way she didn't know he's a trainwreck. Any sane woman would just run.
Who is the actor who plays Seung Chul? He's totally gorgeous in a clean-cut kind of way.
I really liked that Hyunju dumped him after he went on and on drunkenly that he still loved first love. Go, girl! It's one thing to be with a basketcase, it's another to be with a basketcase who doesn't love you. To me, it also reinforced that she would put up with anything from him (jail time, drug use, mental break-downs) as long as she knew he loved and needed her (see later) - she didn't necessarily need good behavior or stability but she did need his love and need. Not a healthy sort of a relationship but ehhh, whatever works for her, I suppose.
The band. All of a sudden I am trying to imagine the worlds of Mary Stayed Out All Night and RRR colliding. Time Maeri runs off screaming? 5.8 seconds, probably :P Though I suppose she can win Daddy's approval of Mugyul about 20x faster by telling him that at least she's not dating this guy :)
Here for hotness purposes.
Drug abuse and mental breakdowns are not really fun, I suppose. I found it interesting that he was such an unhappy person despite a fairly OK life - it's something inherent in him, not caused (even if exascerbated) by the outside circumstances.
She finds him after a drug binge and he begs her not to leave and she tells him she loves him. Oh God, they are so codependent there should be a special definition in the dictionary.
I have no idea how he can look so gorgeous even strung out.
He is writing Memories III for Hyunju (the song the caps from recording of which I posted earlier)
At a concert - he's so far gone, he can't see Hyunju is the only one in the audience.
Ooooh, I loved this scene - total breakdown about drug use and failure of album etc, right before he gets hauled off, arrested for drug use.
Jailtime:
And more breakdowns...
Trying to climb out of the pit:
Some hotness for the road...
