Jin Jin brooding on revenge. I don't blame her for wanting revenge - how could I - but she doesn't realize how it's turning her life toxic - she is giving up every chance of personal happiness and love to avenge people who are already dead.
Kang Suk learns from Jin Joo about Creepy's deeds and thus any impossibility of future between him and Jin Jin. I realized that the writer must have had JJ break up with him earlier because he/she really wanted to have that begging scene in ep 40 to show in a dramatic way how much he loves her - because once the final truth is out, of course he can't beg.
Their quiet scenes kills me - they are full of so much pain and longing. I can see why they can't be - in fact it will be quite a leap for them to end up together - his family is awful but it's his family and she's trying to destroy it - and his family wronged her so much - and granted, he's helping her in her quest (against his own family, this is huge!), but this can't be a healthy relationship based on that.
Here they are, separated by a wall, longing for each other. Ahhh.
Jin Jin is so hardcore and focused, it's insane. She tells Kang Suk she freaked out Creepy on purpose so Creepy would try to kill her and thus no need to worry about a statute of limitations - "you will avenge me?" Oh, girl - you are so scary. But the person for whom my heart really breaks in this situation is Kang Suk. There is no good way out for him - either his family triumphs and the person he loves most is hurt. Or Jin Jin gets her revenge - and his family is destroyed. Granted, his stepmother and Creepy have been awful to him and his father is a waste of space who broke him and his OTP up, but they are still family, and this is especially huge in a Confusian society. And yet he is helping her to get revenge, he is helping Granny who plans to take apart the family because he places her above his family (and if you think about it, family has to be taken down in order for Creepy to be made powerless/JJ to be protected), and because it's the right thing to do to atone but still - it's his family, his inheritance, it's what he's worked so hard for. He's completely negating and destroying himself for her. And is also distancing himself from the family - you can see it in his interactions with his father. And while I am glad he's not hopelessly chasing for family approval any more, this isn't much mentally healthier.
Telling Creepy that if he harms a hair on JJ's head, he (KS) will become a murderer himself.
My favorite scene in 43:
KS: Why are you already here? The reception isn't over yet.
JJ: Why...Are you here?
KS: Because I had nowhere else to go. I just...Came here, on autopilot. I was just going to stand here a while and leave, but it looks like I got caught.
JJ: DongHa and YoonSuh-shi look really happy.
KS: I'm sure they do. Considering how tough it was for them to get married.
JJ: It's cold. Head on home.
KS; JinJin. I've never experienced as cold a winter as this one. I don't generally feel the cold, but my shoulders feel a biting chill. Is it like that for you, too?
JJ: So then, why are you standing here?
KS: We...Why do we have to be so cold like this, JinJin? We...Will always be living in a
perpetual winter, won't we? [pause] I'm sorry. For being like this. I'll be leaving.
JJ: I, too...Feel as though this winter is the coldest. Probably, the rest of my life, will feel like winter.
But at least DA and YS finally fixed everything and are blindingly happy together.
Here for the pretty:
Jin Jin, the BAMF, smacks Creepy.
