Kang Suk and Jin Jin might have had a painful break-up in ep 39, but at least they weren't sick and chased by murderous gangsters. There's always an upside!
If you remember from the last post, Yoon Seo broke up with Dong Ah to save his life and got engaged to Creepy - all as per his blackmail. And barring a few minor interruptions, like Dong Ah going back to being a thug or Creepy having him severely beaten for daring to speak to Yoon Seo for two minutes, all was peachy. Indeed. Until Yoon Seo found out Creepy murdered his previous wife, that is. When she went with her news to her father, he didn't care much - Creepy came from the right family and would be helpful in business. What's a "minor mistake" compared to that? Terrified and freaked out of her mind, Yoon Seo ran to Dong Ah (still recuperating in the hospital from his fun beating) and begged him to run away together. And off they went, untrailed by Creepy's goons due to Kang Suk's awesomeness.
They ditch her car and credit cards and live on cash she got from her account and are blissful and normal and sweet. Yu, just your blissful, normal, and sweet couple who makes a suicide pact. Yikes.
He gives her piggyback rides:
And cooks for her:
And they are back to being alive:
There is even cuddling (and presumably other things) in bed:
And just cuddling in general. I just want to yell at freaking Creepy and his goons and her insane father to just leave them alone. They are happy and well-adjusted together - don't you guys care that a girl who's been suicidal since freaking childhood finally is at peace and happy and wants to live?
Creepy's goons trace them, though, and they go on a deserate run. She is running a fever (which makes sense - she was brought up very 'gently' as they used to say in Victorian novels, and all the emotional toil of being locked up and blackmailed, plus past physical toll of all those suicide attempts, can't be good). He gives her his jacket! In a snowstorm! So he's only in shirtsleeves! ILY, Dong Ah.
They find a room but she refuses to go to the hospital because they'll be caught. He gets her some medicine at least by barging and shouting for the pharmacist like an insane person.
They cuddle to warm her up.
But the goons find them (side note, I love you kids, I do, but your escape plan wasn't very well-thought-out, was it? But then it's been established that Kang Suk is the brain trust in the foursome, with Jin Jin being second. So it's not surprising. I bet if Kang Suk planned a similar stunt, he'd be in Timbuktu by now).
"Ah, my intended has run away from my grubby clutches! How shall I win her heart? Flowers? Pleading? Expensive jewelry?"
"Nah, how about I have her husband beaten almost to death in front of her eyes. That will totally win her over!"
Psycho Daddy shows up and smacks his terrified, sick daughter across the face. Awww, parental love. I love how even half-dead, Dong Ah tries to surge forward to protect her.
He tells her she is marrying Creepy, end of story, and if she doesn't do exactly as he says, there will be only small bits of Dong Ah left. Or something to similar effect. (Doesn't it concern anyone in this nuthouse that Yoon Seo and Dong Ah are married in the eyes of God even if the marriage is not registered? Nah. That would require some sort of morals).
Once Yoon Seo is dragged out, Creepy fondles (I really can't think of any other word) barely-conscious Dong Ah and tells him if he comes near YS again, he will be dead. DA snarls at him to kill him now because he doesn't want to live anyway, but Creepy grins and tells him he can't kill him because if he does, who knows what Yoon Seo would do. (Am I the only one noticing the flaw here - that means they won't kill DA after all, thus DA has some latitude as long as his health insurance is good and he's OK with a major beating. Hmmm).
Fun times.
I know I am behind on replies and promise to get to them asap.
