Fight and Love with a Terracotta Warrior

No subs yet but I watched ep 1 raw and it's pretty easy to follow if you read detailed synopsis/movie summary (otoh, I find Chinese Iljimae basically impossible to follow without subs which is a huge pity because it looks intense and gorgeous).
My thoughts are that as far as first episodes go this one gets an A++ rating from me. I find cdramas start rather slowly, as well they might, seeing that they usually have 40-50 eps to play with. This first ep holds up better than the first ep of my favorite drama The Myth (which has an OK first ep but nothing to hint at the brilliance to come) and is much better than first eps of LOCH2008 and ROCH2006, two of my huge favorites.
I am never interested in the modern portions of these stories, so I especially liked that after 5 minutes or so, we go back to the start - the Qin Dynasty. We are introduced to all of our major players and some connections are started - more specifically Qin Emperor's obsession with Ady An. As I do not speak Mandarin, I am not 100% sure, but I believe the fixation is not due to her pretty looks but to that amulet she had - probably some relation to his quest for immortality. Our star-crossed lovers Du Chen and Ady An have barely met (if you call knocking out during a swordfight a meeting) but I can't wait to see more of the two of them together. Du Chen - daaaaaaaamn, the guy is hot. It must the Qin hairstyle + the armor + swordfighting + honorable demeanor because I don't find him particularly coronary-inducing in modern getup. But as sexy Qin general - oh, whoa. Ady An is her gorgeous, adorable self. There is not even a tiny hint of angst yet but I know how these things work - they sucker you in with the cute and then -- whaaaaam.
So, a winner.
