As for In Soo's problem with Daddy dear, maybe it will be solved by the Minister of War meeting a nasty end? I recall someone saying that he got sentenced to death or something, historically. I can't imagine anyone brave/insane enough to marry into a household where you have Mr. Sleazy as your father-in-law. It reminds me of the case in Episode 7 of Chosun Police 3, where the youngest son fell in love with a gisaeng, brought her in as wife but had to go away on a trip before he finalized it, and in the meantime Daddy lusted after soon-to-be daughter-in-law, pretended to "go into the wrong room" at night and made it so that she HAD to be married to him. The similarities between that and what could potentially happen in SKKS is startling.
I'm glad they didn't extend it last minute either. If they had organized it around midway, it would've been OK since I think this is the kind of drama that can be at least 24 episodes, but with 4 episodes left it would've been dreadful to stretch it out. I really want a sequel all about Jae Shin, though.

Bwahahahahahha. I kept wondering if the actor was somehow getting less sleep then the rest of the cast or whether the rest of them had better access to eye drops (I am still amazed Yoochun didn't look like a zombie by the end).
I don't see where Chosun can find a better option, actually; YS turned out to be a girl so it's either marry into a rich family with a husband that loves you to distraction, or continue the life of a gisaeng until you're old and ugly.
And if she is a gisaeng, doesn't she have to sleep with a bunch of men she has no interest in and is awfully vulnerable to powerful sleazoids like the Minister who can blackmail her into sex or even damage her and she can't do anything about it? If she is married to IS (who is certainly crazy enough about her to marry her, her gisaeng status notwithstanding), she will certainly be much better off - not only does he adore her, he can protect her.* And I think after this incident in ep 20, she can finally allow herself to believe both of these facts (to me, she struck me as someone desperate to have truly care for her and protect her, not just lust after her, see her latching onto YH. IS' actions certainly make him fit the bill).
* well, protect her from everyone except creepazoid Daddy though. Hmmmm. I don't really see a way out because if Daddy gets executed, I've seen enough dramas to know usually the whole family goes to the chopping block which is not a good end. Hmmm. I don't see Chosun ending up as CP3 lady though - she'd probably slit Minister's throat. Still - cannot imagine how that would work. Maybe IS could get his own house - or even better get a post in China far far away :P
Yes, last minute extention would have screwed it up.
I want a Jae Shin sequel so badly I can taste it.

I'm amazed that all of the J4 still managed to look so sharp and energetic by the end, actually! Because In Soo wasn't the only supporting cast member with shiny red eyes:
Someone posted that picture of the Soron Head guy on Soompi commenting how hot he is, and all I could think was "Wow, mate, you need some sleep/eye drops!" LOL. Maybe further up the Cast List of Absolute Importance = first dibs on quality eye drops?

I'd be really surprised if he does take her in as first wife though, considering his status. Taking in a gisaeng as first wife (no matter how famous and respected) = SCANDAL. They could totally make an In Soo/Cho Sun spin-off drama about their own Joseon Scandal if that really happens. I suppose I could see it becoming reality though; some people insisted that In Soo's obsession with Cho Sun stems more from a need to OWN her, but with that scene above, it clearly goes a bit further. And I totally forgot about the convenient posts in China :P Clearly in that period, if you needed to get away, China's the place to go, LOL. Speaking of China, SO GLAD that rumour of Sun Joon/Yoon Hee being sent off to China turned out to be false. Realistic, maybe, but it's the kind of thing that leaves a sour taste in your mouth.
More Jae Shin = the only reason why I'm disappointed they didn't get an extension. The producers said that if they get an extension, they wanted to get deeper into the Jae Shin character. PETITION FOR DROOLWORTHY JAE SHIN SPIN-OFF NOW. He can pair up with cute Blue Messenger girl instead of finding a 14-year-old shy young bride (boring) like he did in the novels.

I think any love relationship has a bit of posessiveness in it (as in you want object of your affection to like you and only you) and probably more than average with a guy as posessive as IS seems in general, but nah, I don't think it was all about owning her. If that is all he wanted, and he didn't care for her liking him back, I've seen East of Eden and I know how well that can go.

Ahhhh, but that is the beauty (??!!) of a polygamist society. He doesn't need to. (Though, tbh, I have no idea if he is crazy enough about her to do so anyway. Daegil in Chuno was insane enough to want to marry a slave as his first/only wife, though I suppose we all saw how well that ended).
Side question - was there a limit on how many wives someone could have as long as he could find willing participants? Because if not, that could lead to some...interesting...households.
And speaking of wives, that is what the Minister of War needs so he'd stop chasing after unsuitable women. He seems to like ladies young enough to be love interests for his almost-son-in-law or his son, but I am sure he could find a hot bimbo who would just love being married to someone this rich/powerful not to mind him being old and evil. Though, I suppose who knows how long he will keep his position. After the stunt he pulled, I bet Left State Minister is going to have his guts for garters.
I want a JS spin-off! I want to see him hook up with Blue Messenger (she is totally a perfect match, much bettee than a timid little kid. Boooo). We could have J4 make cameos and comment from the sidelines. I am even desperate enough for my YAI fix to try to watch Chil Woo again despite my dislike of Gu Hye Sun and general insanity of that drama.

Well, I'm thinking that if he'd protect her from armed men at the risk of his life and pissing his Daddy off... He also lost the archery contest and nearly took Sun Joon's head off with a hockey stick because of her, so clearly she drives him nuts. Even if she doesn't become first wife, I've seen plenty of sageuk men having a first wife only for show because their attention's all for their mistresses. They could make a whole new drama about In Soo's household intrigues with the first wife trying to defeat Cho Sun, LOL.
Re: limit of wives, I read in a book on Korean history somewhere that a law was passed in the early 15th Century that you can only have one legal wife, but you can still keep concubines, though the sons you have by a concubine = illegitimate and therefore banned from civil service. Jeongjo was late 18th Century, so Cho Sun would be a lowly concubine. And before all that, 2-3 wives for the elite was respectable, so I assume that translated to numbre of concubines afterwards. LOL knowing the Minister of War, Yoon Hee would probably be one of many. It's kind of creepy considering Yoon Hee might have been even younger than Hyo Eun. *shudders*

Great minds think alike! I've got Chil Woo and The Man Who Can't Get Married lined up, both of which are so bad they're good, as well as all his movies (except for Sky and Sea which I couldn't find). Hopefully we won't have to wait too long though; an article reported that YAI's considering an upcoming MBC sageuk slated for early next year. I frankly don't care as long as I can see him in SOMETHING, preferably as male lead!

Ehhhh, if he was bugfuck insane enough, her lack of interest wouldn't have mattered (see Myung Hun the Rapist in EoE - I can't believe they expected us to e OK with him by the end).
I don't even have a problem with the Wrist Grab of Ultimate Jealousy as long as it's not done too roughly.
I actually like the wrist grab - nobody seems damaged by it :P I find a little jealousy (or a lot) cute in fiction - mmmmm, SJ was so hot when he was all angry and jealous.
They could make a whole new drama about In Soo's household intrigues with the first wife trying to defeat Cho Sun, LOL.

Perhaps the lesson from it all that the War Minister should have learned was that next time he should pick a lady who his son isn't fixated on. There is no way he didn't know about IS' feelings - I would imagine even a halfwit would have known - but it never occurred to him to think ahead about problems he could get - what, he couldn't find a blackmailable cutthroat who wasn't Chosun? Also, it just occurred to me - they never did make it explicit whether Minister was also sleeping with her. If he did (which I think was the case), ugh, gross - that means if she hooks up with In Soo she's knocked boots with both Daddy and Son???? Only in a kdrama.

WTFWTFWTF. Someone raped someone? I never watched that drama because I sensed early on that it was going to be long and full of insanity, and no one I knew watched it either, so about all I know is that Song Seung Hun and Lee Yeon Hee were OTP. And well, everyone's heard about Lee Da Hae Gate.

A lot of people seem opposed to it for some reason, though. Maybe because some drama guys actually look like they're trying to break gf's wrist? LOL. Actually, I was noticed that Sun Joon always either grabbed Yoon Hee's shoulder or caught her arm. I wonder whether that was a conscious decision to avoid the wrist or whether he just didn't want to risk missing her wrist altogether (those sleeves, you know) and accidentally grab... something else.
I had wondered about whether Cho Sun had slept with War Minister or not, too. When Yoon Hee saved her that first time, it didn't seem like he'd done it before, but who knows what could've happened between then and when Cho Sun dressed up as fake Hong Byung Seo. The whole time in that dark cabin when she was hurt, I was just waiting for Mr. Sleazy to do something disgusting, and was so glad he didn't.

So true, but then everyone seems to look hotter in period gear. Just look at Sun Joon! That rumoured sageuk has a working title of Partners/Best Friends/Sidekick (you get the idea), so it sounds like another fusion. Unfortunately those don't tend to be ratings winners, and I kind of hope he'd take something that'll elevate him to leading man territory. If JGS can be catapulted to headliner status after doing nothing but look pretty and stare vacantly in HGD, why not YAI, I say.

Re: fusion. Yeah, they don't do so well, but I love them. HGD didn't have the greatest ratings either though (and oh, JGS was so bad in it - it was painful to watch him in the same scene as Kang Ji Hwan. He is one of those actors whose popularity I genuinely do not get - he looks like a freak and he can't really act).
re: Minister of War. I am hoping they avoided sex because he needed her as Messenger so it gave her a little leverage too. Because otherwise - that's too sick. It would also be 100% rape, even if not by force. (If In Soo does marry her and doesn't go to China, that would be a hell of a scary household).
